Sam was excellent throughout the process of getting the permits from the city. He was always responsive, collaborative, and committed to delivering high-quality work on time. His expertise, dedication greatly contributed to the success of the project. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for an excellent architect who consistently exceeds expectations. His work of getting us the permit is done already but this nice guy Sam is still helping us with the construction part for no additional cost since we got the permit under homeowner builder and we were new to this kind of detailed construction. I wish I could give Sam more than 5 stars. I will definitely update my review with the pictures upon completion of our project. Unprofessional. Everything was fine till the time I made first payment of almost 65% of total job . After that lots of missed deadlines.. no response which delayed the project. Simple mistakes . Once hoa has questions regarding the plan , they refuse to answer mentioning that I have to pay second payment which was due after approval of arch plans . As per them approval definition is that once they deliver and won’t wait for hoa approval. They gave arch and structural plans and hoa has queries but they refuse to address till payment is made which is not per agreed contract . I have to find another company to restart the project after working with them for 5 months . Beware

Sam and his team helped us navigate a complex permit back and forth with the city of San Jose. He was on top of all city requests and was able to get us the original permit and revisions. They also stuck to their original quote and provided structural engineering services after the fact. I would recommend them without reservations.
I didn't end up hiring Altus due to my project needs changing. However, due to Sam's high level of professionalism and fast response time, I felt it was appropriate to leave a review. I received a punctual call, and we discussed the project needs over the phone, for which he was willing to provide me an estimate (it was a simple/small project for drawings for repair only). I will definitely be reaching out in the future for the next time I need architect support.
Sam got me through the finish line! He was willing to work with me at the start of the pandemic. He was willing to drive over an hour to go over my plans. I appreciate his patience working with me.
This individual was given facts and materials related to my project and I have spent considerable amount of time and he promised to respond and has not. This person is not trustworthy to have a business relationship with. They will not do what they say they will.
As first timers when it comes to ADU construction, Sam and his team have done a SUPERB job not only helping us with our needs, but educating us with all the different state/county ordinances from plumbing, electrical, to even solar requirements. They drafted multiple designs and took into consideration of all our wants, especially when it came down to the budget. I would definitely work with Sam and his team for future projects!
