So far Amy is great. I told her what my son are struggling on and she brings the work that he needed to focus on. so far my son had only been with Amy once but he had learn something from it. I think if he continues he will get better.

Hello! I'm Amy Halvorsen. I have been teaching ESOL for over twenty years. I have taught all ages and English levels. I have taught ESOL at Northern VA Community College for five years. I currently teach grade 5 ESOL at an elementary school in Manassas, VA. I love teaching English and learning about other cultures. I always make lessons fun and interesting! I have two Master's Degrees and lots of experience teaching. I am located in Northern Virginia. I look forward to hearing from you! My rate is $65 and up, depending upon where you live or where we meet for lessons. I do not travel to DC. Serious inquiries only please.

This was Amy's first time to our location and she was approximately 15 minutes late. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to meet with her. However, she did keep me informed and we maintained contact prior to her training course and after. I look forward to getting feedback from our team members who attended her training.
Amy is working weekly with my 5-year old to get her confident and comfortable with letters/sounds/reading basics and makes it fun! Amy is patient, nurturing, and up-with the times on best practices for teaching new readers since she herself is an elementary teacher. My daughter always looks forward to her time working with Amy and my husband and I feel comfortable with putting our daughter in her care! Highly recommend her services!
I had a conversational class today with Amy and it was great. She was very friendly. I enjoyed speaking with her and I recommend Amy for anybody who’s want to improve his speaking and listening skills. Will definitly continue practicing english with her.

Amy did a great job working with my nephew, a 7 year old 1st grader with reading challenges. Afterwards, she was open to going over various techniques to not only further assist with reading but also build confidence. Thank you Amy for getting us on the right track!
