It would be nice to know the pump brand, and model information, which I asked for several times without an answer. The installer left with leaks in both the discharge, and suction sides of the pump. He also stacked 2 O-rings in the strainer cap lid, creating an air leak. After running the pump for several hours, the discharge fitting blew out of the pump housing, and it no longer holds. Maybe from using the older pump fittings, instead of the new provided ones from the manufacturer, or from the use of Channel Locks over-tightening the fitting. I ended up, (due to needing the pump up and running), cobble jobing the suction side to get it to prime and pull suction, using JB Weld. This was prior to the discharge blowout. Now, redoing the discharge, by attempting to use the preferred method of the external threads, just hoping the threads are not too bad. All be it, the old plumbing was routed poorly, so I rerouted the lines from the heater to the pool so they were not stacked tightly on top of each other. The pump itself, seems like a good aftermarket copy of a Waterways, or Pentair pump.
I contacted Bob from Aqua pools to diagnose my pool problem. After sending him pictures and explaining the problem, he immediately informed me that I needed a new pump. Bob gave me a reasonable price, and contacted me with a schedule. My new pump was installed within 3 days of contacting Bob. I’m extremely pleased with the professionalism, prompt response, and affordable of the service from Aqua Pools. I will definitely contact them again if I need pool service.
