All of the people in this company are very friendly. No problem there. The work on the fireplace and chimney appears to be adequate. The reason for the 3 star review is, first, the hard pressure sell, which I'm not fond of, but I had tenants moving in, so I went with it. Second, communication wasn't great. They made an appointment but didn't tell me. I had to call them to find out when it was. The workers didn't finish, and I had to call to find out when they were coming back. Third, surprise fee added, because the flue apparently needed a cap, which I had said I didn't want. Fourth, they left a pile of soot all over the floor in front of the fireplace. Fifth, they left my stepladder outside. Why they even took it outside, I have no idea. They tossed another ladder, inexplicably, in the front yard. I'm not even sure where that came from. Maybe all fireplace people would do the same, but I won't be calling this company again.

Ordering parts before starting job
Bay Fireside Pros responded quickly to my search and communicated well. They explained the problem and fixed it, in addition to providing new pieces. They were friendly and efficient.
Review only for customer service which is poor. I booked this company to repair my fireplace (and only heat supply). I confirmed a time 1-3 pm several days out and took time off work to be at home. To arrange this, I spoke on the phone, received email, and text message. I’ll also note I received calls from two different people (poor communication between staff). Later I received call and text message that the time window would be changed to 2-4 on the same day. I also confirmed this. I received a confirmation text message the afternoon before the date of service that I admittedly in retrospect did not respond to amidst a busy work day but also received a confirmation email that evening. I had no reason to think the service was not still booked, I received no cancellation notice or call. It was not until during my appointment at 3pm the following day that they sent me a text message informing me that my appointment was cancelled because I had not confirmed the appointment by text. I then spoke to them on the phone and they were completely unhelpful. They were not accommodating to reschedule to a convenient time for me. I was appalled. I did not use them and found a much more professional and accommodating service.

They did an excellent job repairing my old gas fireplace. On the first visit, they assessed the situation, walked me through my options (replacing the entire unit vs. just the electronic valve), and ordered the necessary parts. On the second day, they completed all the work—we ended up replacing all the internal components. I love how my “new” old fireplace looks, and I’d definitely recommend them to friends.
My fireplace had a broken damper which made cleaning hard. They were able to work around that, cleaning out the fireplace while recommending a number of solutions. They were incredibly professional and helpful!
