I hired this company through Thumbtack after my original movers canceled at the last minute. I was initially grateful that they were willing to take the job on short notice. Unfortunately, the experience quickly became frustrating and uncomfortable. The move itself was relatively small. Based on the amount of furniture and the distance involved, I expected approximately 2 hours of loading, a 30-minute drive between locations, and less than an hour of unloading. The company charges $130/hour plus a $70 gas fee. What should have been a relatively quick move ended up taking approximately 7 hours, resulting in a significantly higher bill than expected. The most concerning part of the experience occurred after the move was completed. The movers demanded payment via cash or Zelle. I only had access to credit cards. While I was actively attempting to add my credit cards to Venmo and Cash App so I could pay them immediately, the transactions were repeatedly flagged for fraud due to the amount. I explained my situation and asked whether they could send me an invoice or allow me a short amount of time to resolve the payment issue. Instead, one of the movers refused to leave my home until payment was made. At one point, he stated, "If you can't pay with Zelle, then we will go to the ATM." As a woman who had recently been forced to move unexpectedly due to domestic violence, and was alone in the home, having two grown men refuse to leave while demanding payment made me feel extremely uncomfortable and intimidated. I was never refusing to pay. I was actively trying to find a way to pay them, but was having difficulty because of payment processing restrictions. I understand that businesses deserve to be paid for their work. However, there is a professional and respectful way to handle payment disputes. This experience left me feeling pressured, unsafe, and deeply uncomfortable in my own home. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this company to clarify payment methods in writing beforehand and proceed with caution.
