This bathroom was a dream project for me, and hiring Brothers 59 Construction turned what should have been an exciting renovation into one of the most stressful home improvement experiences I’ve ever had. We paid $6,300 for a bathroom remodel that included vanity installation, plumbing and electrical modifications, drywall work, wallpaper installation, and finish work. What we received was defective workmanship, property damage, months of delays, and thousands of dollars in additional costs to correct the work. The wallpaper installation failed and damaged approximately $2,200 worth of wallpaper. The wallpaper removal and installation process also caused damage to the walls and baseboards. We were told the issue would be corrected, but instead we spent approximately two months waiting while our bathroom sat in an unfinished and unsightly condition. We later learned that the vanity had been installed improperly and had to hire another contractor to inspect and correct the installation. Had we not sought a second opinion, we could have been facing even more costly repairs or replacement. The most frustrating part was the lack of accountability and resolution. Despite requesting an itemized breakdown of costs during the project and throughout the dispute, none was provided. We did not receive an itemized allocation of the $6,300 project price until after legal counsel became involved. At this point, we have received estimates of approximately $3,950 just to remove and reinstall improperly completed work, remove failed wallpaper, prepare the walls, and reinstall wallpaper correctly. That does not include the value of the damaged wallpaper itself or the time, stress, and inconvenience caused by months of dealing with these issues. Some portions of the work may remain in place, but much of what we paid for must be repaired, corrected, or completely redone by other professionals. We hired Brothers 59 Construction expecting quality workmanship and a finished bathroom we could enjoy. Instead, we were left with damaged materials, defective work, prolonged delays, additional expenses, and a project that still requires significant correction. Save yourself the heartache, time and money and choose a contractor who actually delivers on their promise, doesn’t gouge you and delivers a professional product. I’m attaching photos first of how it was initially left. Then how it was left the second time around when they attempted to fix it.

Hired Mike for a deck tear out and rebuild. His foreman actually did all the hands on work. Structural integrity of the new deck is good. Composite deck boards are good with a local bit of wave in one area. The railing and spindle job was poor and rushed (I witnessed them crank it out fast). Poor quality of lumber (Home Depot). All rail posts are cracked and being replaced. All spindles did not get predrilled so are all cracked. About a third of the spindles are heavily warped. Some were cracked all the way through. Entire rail system being replaced and is only 4-5 months old. Not everything was bad but enough so I would not rehire.
BE AWARE! Very unprofessional service with Mike. Took my money and ran (mold test, ventilation, mold removal) Never gave me mold results and refuses to come back and wants to argue the job was done although he wasn’t here to check on the quality of service himself, it was his employee. Saying they did the “best they could do” without a contract for replacing my roof (which doesn’t need replacing per multiple reviews). So you can’t even remove visible surface mold as per our contract and your documented photos? Anyway, I’m not arguing with someone who cannot find reason. Before and after photos of my mold removal are the same- shows my $5k down the drain.
Mike is a contractor that communicates extremely well! He checks in and is highly responsive to any question I have!
Mike was very quick to provide me an estimate for our kitchen remodel. His pricing is very competitive and he was very professional during the bidding process.
They offered to come back "until we were happy." We have chosen to hire someone else to finish. We appreciate their efforts. The tile work was good. Rebuilding a wall to install a barn door was good.
I found my experience with this company to be totally unprofessional and the quality of work to be completely unacceptable. Did a tub to shower conversion because of my husband’s medical issues. Tried communicating with the owner but got nowhere. Left side shower door will not close tightly gap at the top . Was told had I got back with them within a day or so there would have not been a charge. The caulking inside the shower is all cracking the grout job is sloppy. I paid $300 for the new shower head and it has grout or mortar on it that was not cleaned off . These are pictures of what I paid for .
Michael was very responsive and knowledgeable. He reached out immediately after we submitted our project request to better understand our project and provided alternatives in the even our original thoughts/design would not work.
This company is extremely upfront regarding projects, stays on top of communication, reliable, and on top of all of that, does great work at a fair price. Really like the approach they used for us and happy with the work done.
Our project was done on time and we were apart of every step with updates and feedback. Zumwalt Construction even came back out to tidy up a few things we noticed a few days after completion. Our backyard looks great. Highly recommend.
