Hello, my name is Marcus Childs. I am a culinary arts graduate from Sullivan University and Lorain County Joint vocational school. My passion for cooking first started at a young age when my grandparents would let me get a feel in the kitchen. I loved making pancakes from scratch that my grandfather taught me or grilling ribs and then making baked macaroni and cheese with some cornbread from scratch from my grandmother just to name a few. At 15 I knew what I wanted to do in life and I found my gift from God. I’ve been catering and doing private events since 2012 and I must say, I love it. I love people and I love cooking and creating amazing dishes. Hiring me for your small or big event you’re getting me as your contact and face that’s present as well. Just in the past year we have done over 50 weddings up to 400 guest, corporate events, anniversaries, reunions and private personal events as well. I’m thankful for each call and or email we receive and we try to be responsive as quickly as possible because we want you to know how important your event is to us. Let’s talk soon

Her first response after Thumbtack contacted her was fast and friendly. I gave her information and she said she would email me a menu. Sadly, I never heard back.
The food was amazing. Everyone at the wedding reception couldn’t stop saying wonderful things about the food and cupcakes.

Communication was great, they arrived on time, and the quality of the food was excellent. Only one slip - I had requested a change of one menu item which they agreed to, but the change didn't make it to the final meal. All turned out fine in the end though and I would use them again.
They forgot to bring 1/3 of the food, they showed up 40 minutes late and never called- I had to call them and ask where they were at. The food they did bring was okay but nothing to brag about. They actually tried to get me to believe that lemon pound cake is what they call corn muffins with honey butter. Lol. Who serves lemon pound cake with icing at a wedding as the bread! Overall a poor experience and would not recommend them to anyone.
Chef Prep Catering did an amazing job! The turkey was perfectly seasoned, the mac & cheese was rich and creamy, and the green beans were delicious. Everything arrived fresh and on time. Highly recommend for any event!
I guess really enjoyed his food, especially the mac & cheese! Chef was on time he was professional. He came and set up. I literally have no complaints would definitely book again.
Chef Marcus Childs with Chef Prep Culinary did an amazing job for my Birthday dinner with family and friends. He worked with me to create the perfect meal. He was available for any questions or concerns I had. He was very friendly and professional with everyone. Days later, my family and friends are still talking about him and the meal. In writing this review I was only allowed to choose up to three qualities, but believe his work quality, value, professionalism, punctuality and responsiveness was amazing. Will definitely be using his services again. FYI: My grandson who normally does not eat fish / seafood, enjoyed the seafood stuffed salmon to the point he asked for seconds to take home.
Chef Marcus was absolutely phenomenal! This was the first time we had ever had a private chef experience, and Marcus set the bar very high. It was a surprise for my wife's 40th Birthday and the process was flawless. For any special event or celebration, be sure to hit up Marcus and Chefs Prep, because they'll win you brownie points with your spouse and all of your guests.
We had the absolute pleasure of hosting an in-home brunch prepared by Chef Marcus, and it exceeded every expectation. From the moment he arrived, everything was handled with professionalism, warmth, and incredible attention to detail. The menu was delicious!! Every dish was a hit, from the French Toast, seasoned potatoes and Catfish and grits. This was truly a stress-free luxury from start to finish. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a gourmet meal in the comfort of your home.
We loved having Marcus cook for my 70th birthday party. Everything was so good. He was very personable and professional. Everything I had asked for he did! He and his meal were amazing!
We had our annual Christmas work party with 28 attending. We had a fantastic experience and the food was exceptional. The night we had the party. The roads were snowy and slick. The food arrived on time hot tasty and beautifully displayed. Thank you, Chef Marcus for such a great experience. 🎄
We invited Chefsprep to cater our annual band banquet at our high school. The buffet line presentation was professional, the Southern Comfort food menu was of outstanding quality, service was great, and Chef Marcus was so hospitable he feels like a friend. Thank you so much for being there for our organization! I highly recommend!
Marcus was awesome, he answered any questions and was always quick to respond! His food tasted amazing and everyone kept talking about it all night. It was so nice to have great food prepared at our party and me not having to worry about it! He took care of everything! He engaged well with the guests and just fit right in. He’s the real deal, his service, quality, and professionalism were great. I would recommend him over and over again. Thank you Marcus for helping us create such a great night!

Chef Marcus was professional and engaging to chat with. Our bachelorette brunch was magically and so very tasty. Grits and shrimp were scrumptious. We cannot wait to book Marcus again for our next event
We hired Chef Marcus for our Barbie themed bach, and we wish we would have had him cook dinner both nights instead of just one because the meal he cooked for us was 10 times better than Primavista! Can’t wait to hire him again for another event. 😋🎉
Working with Chefsprep was a breeze. I contacted him in a pinch and he was responsive, professional and very thorough. There was more than enough food, my guest were pleased with the variety and everyone came back for seconds. I’m so glad he was available & will definitely use him again!
My girlfriends and I had Chef Marcus prepare a seafood boil. Only complaint was the food was a bit salty and spicy to some of the ladies. Nice selection of seafood. Only advice would be is hold back on salt and have the option for others to salt to their own taste.
