Our Approach I provide individualized reading and writing instruction via Zoom for students ages 6–18. I hold a Master’s degree in Classical Studies (Literature and Rhetoric), and I use a classical, time-tested approach to help students think clearly, read well, and write with confidence. Phonics and Decoding I use a systematic phonics approach that teaches students how to decode unfamiliar words through a strong understanding of letter-sound relationships. My goal is to build confident, independent readers who rely on knowledge rather than guesswork. Reading Comprehension I teach students how to analyze texts, identify central ideas, and communicate their understanding clearly through both speaking and writing. Writing I provide students with a clear framework for writing. I teach them how to read primary sources, extract key ideas, and organize their thoughts into strong outlines that lead to thoughtful, original compositions. Grammar and Morphemes I incorporate grammar and the study of meaningful word parts—including prefixes, roots, and suffixes—to strengthen students’ vocabulary, spelling, reading comprehension, and writing skills. My Philosophy I work with students from public, private, and homeschool settings, drawing upon a classical approach that cultivates wisdom, virtue, and a lifelong love of learning. I believe every student can grow in confidence and ability when given clear instruction, meaningful practice, and individualized support.

Ms. Cherry is the most patient tutor! My child has been struggling with reading and I was really worried about him. He's been getting support from Ms. Cherry for two months and I'm already noticing so much progress. He's developing his confidence as a reader, and reading so much better at home and school. Ms. Cherry is teaching my son phonics rules he never really learned and she packs so much into her sessions with him. I know she knows her stuff and we feel lucky to have found her! Most importantly, she is extremely good with kids, kind and very hardworking! Worth every penny!

For years my son's writing was graded at below standard on report cards, even though he scores well above grade level in English on standardized tests. After 4 months with Ms. Stacy, he is now writing at or above standard according to his report card. Beyond the numbers, my son's writing has gone from unable to start to extremely eloquent and fun to read. He has a new love of writing that is the biggest gift. When he started with Ms. Stacy I told him he could stop once his writing got up to grade level. He's having so much fun though he wants to keep going. I'm so grateful to Ms. Stacy in every way!
Stacy Cherry is simply phenomenal! I ordered an assessment for my niece and although we had some shifts in schedules on both sides, communication was easy we were still able to get the assessment done! Stacy’s interpretation of the test results shine through in her attention to detail and her uncanny ability to see a child’s spirit. Her heart is pure in how she explains the child’s strengths and weaknesses. The advice and encouragement she shared was poignant and heart felt.
