Our experience with Kevin was unfortunately not the 5 star experience that many of his other clients seem to be having. I wish it had been. We hired Kevin to build a custom built-in with cabinetry and shelving in our playroom. The overall result of the cabinetry was good, however the process to get this done properly was painful to say the least. I'll start with the cons: We met with Kevin within the first half of September and our project was delayed more than 3 times and just finished yesterday (at the very end of November), so scheduling was a major issue. The first time that Kevin delivered our cabinetry and doors "ready for install," I had to send them back because they were so poorly done. I actually commented that it looked like a failed DIY project. And finally, Kevin spilled a large amount of white paint on our carpet and attempted to just wipe it up and not tell us. It was quite a bit of paint and the carpet is stained. The pros: the built-in is finally finished and the final product does look okay.
Homeowners beware!!! Kevin was hired to cut the hinges in 6 brand new doors. This is a simple task for someone skilled since there is a template. The hinge was already routed in the door frame, so all he had to do was cut the hinge shape into the edge of the doors. He ruined 5 of my doors and didn't complete the job. Look at the edge of the door that he spackled to try to fix. He made square cuts for a round hinges, gashed the hinge area and made cuts that were way too large. All of these doors were brand new and painted by a professional painter and then he ruined them. See pics attached. He then demanded full jpayment even though the last door wasn't done saying that he wasn't leaving without payment. My daughter felt threatened and i wasn't present, so she paid him. He then quoted me an additional $350 to complete the last of the 6 doors saying that the door wouldn't fit and he would need to hollow it out and patch it etc. I had to pay someone else to complete the job, but he was easily able to hang the original door. I wouldn't trust him with a more complex task when he botched this one. I would definitely think twice before hiring him.

After I scheduled an appointment and sent Kevin my project photos he asked that we discuss the project over the phone. After we agreed on the call time he didn’t call or try to message me to explain the reason for not calling me. I sent him a message and cancelled the appointment. I am also declining the project with him.

Kevin is amazing at what he does! He was to fix my front screen door and found rotted wood underneath and fixed that and installed 2 doors. Will definitely use him again.
I am thrilled to have found Kevin on Thumbtack. It's so hard to find someone of his professional caliber who is reliable. He replaced all of my kitchen cabinet hinges so they close properly and look a lot better too. He also replaced some boards in my wooden planter which saved me from having to replace the whole thing for the time being. He's friendly and respectful. I highly recommend Kevin and hope to be able to engage him again when needed.
