We recently had a new deck built and stained by a different contractor. They completely destroyed the deck by improperly staining it. We found Chris on Thumbtack and he quickly responded and came to do an estimate the following day. He was very professional and it was obvious he was very knowledgeable and passionate about his work, and his price was very fair so we knew he would be perfect for the job. Chris sanded down 2 decks completely, even making sure to get in between each board. The sander he used has a vacuum attached which prevented all that sawdust from going into our pool! The final product after sanding and re-staining was BEAUTIFUL!!!! The entire process took 3 days. He was very prompt and tidy! I would recommend Chris to do your deck if you want it done right!
Chris did a great job in making my deck look great again. He was detailed in his work and kept me in the loop as he progressed. I appreciate his skill and attention to detail. I also appreciate that he was clean and efficient with the environment due to his equipment being environmentally friendly. My deck looks better than it had in a very long time.

The word that best decribes Chris' work is meticulous. I had no idea of the various methods of sanding and Chris has the specialized equipment and know how to get wood back to its original condition. for the same price other contractors proposed a power wash and spray stain we got full sanding and prep and hand applied stain. Definitely recommend.
Chris did a fantastic job restoring my 15 year old deck. He took the time to sand by hand not once but several times to include in between the boards. He had state of the art equipment to include a vacuum that attached to the sander to keep the saw dust levels down. When he was ready to stain the deck he came several samples and all the time I needed to decide which color I wanted. He took the time to stain the deck by hand using a brush. The end result was awesome. The deck is so smooth that I am able for the first time to walk on it barefoot. I will use him again when it is time to refresh the stain on the deck. I highly recommend him. He is punctual, professional and good at what he does. I couldn't be happier with the end results.

We have had Chris refinish our deck now several times and he never disappoints. Recently completed a deck/post/railing sanding and stain project with Chris Stein with C.M. Stein Construction Inc. Chris provided a reasonable on-site estimate and promptly started work. He exhibits true pride of workmanship and does not cut corners. Uses professional grade equipment (e.g. Festool sanders) and a dust extractor to keep the jobsite virtually dust free. Extremely pleased with the results and his attention to detail. Highly recommended for any deck refinishing task.
Chris is the MOST professional tradesman we have ever had work on our home. He knows decks and can answer all questions, gives very clear estimates and timelines and then delivers precisely in what he says he will do. Chris did an absolutely tremendous job on our front and back Ipe decks. We had made the bad mistake of having them stained a few years back with a dark heavy stain, which was starting to flake off. Chris painstakingly sanded the existing stain off and finished the decks with Ipe Oil. They now look "like a piece of furniture". He was extremely punctual, trustworthy, a delight to work with. Could not recommend him more.
