I am leaving a 3 star review, which is an average rating. I should have only rated a 1 star review because there wasn’t any follow up or follow through. The messages stopped when he said he would call and I let him know I had lost my voice and texting would be best. Never heard back from him on booking my small event that was 30 days in advance. I am disappointed.

We hired Kasun to make woodfired pizza on site at our small wedding in which the venue had a pizza oven on site. Everything was amazing, the food was delicious. The guests could not stop raving about the food. Kasun was very thoughtful in how he prepared everything and he was very easy to work with. 10/10 would recommend and would definately hire again for our vow renewals some day! Chef Kasun of Colombo Roots delivered an extraordinary, fine-dining-caliber experience for our group of 14 in Sedro-Woolley. Managing both a full family-style brunch and an elevated 4-course plated dinner is no small feat, but Kasun handled every detail with absolute mastery, thoughtful prep, and zero compromises on ingredient quality or presentation. Brunch set the tone for the entire day with vibrant, beautifully arranged sharing platters. The crispy chicken sliders with house gochujang aioli and the caramelized banana chocolate chip pancakes were instant crowd favorites, while the vegan offerings—especially the deviled crispy tofu and smashed avocado tartine—were packed with bold, fresh flavors that everyone kept reaching for. The 4-course French-Asian fusion dinner was simply spectacular. Kasun’s technique and plating rivaled high-end restaurants. The slow-roasted crispy chicken leg with the miso-Kashmiri chili and shallot reduction was deeply flavorful, and the miso-glazed cauliflower steak with rich mushroom-peppercorn jus ensured our plant-based and eggless guests had an equally luxurious, show-stopping entrée. Finishing the night with the silky coconut-mango panna cotta and passion-fruit coulis was pure perfection. Beyond the phenomenal food, Kasun’s calm, professional presence in the kitchen and spotless cleanup made hosting completely effortless for us. Colombo Roots set the bar incredibly high, and we will without hesitation be booking Chef Kasun again for future gatherings.

We celebrated a milestone birthday at our home for a 40 adult only outdoor gathering. We could not have asked for a better experience working with Kasun. Communication is prompt. He made a ton of recommendations for the menu (heavy appetizers) based on our preferences. Execution was top-notch. A lot of per-work made sure the event went smoothly and was a grand success. The food was "excellent" and presented tastefully. We had an onsite mixologist/ bartender and that recommendation came from Kasun too. Colombo Roots will be our go-to for all events going forward!
Kasun and his team did a wonderful job catering our event. The food was excellent and our guests commented repeatedly on how much they enjoyed it. We made some late changes to the menu which he willingly accommodated. His setup was professional, and he and his team went above and beyond setting out the food and beverages as well as helping with cleanup, which we truly appreciated. His team was excellent throughout the event! They put together individual plates of leftovers for our guests to take home, and everyone has commented on how much they continued to enjoy the food. Overall, the quality of the food and the professionalism of his staff made the event a success, and we were very pleased with the outcome.
I had a great experience with Kasun. He arrived on time for my graduation dinner and prepared 27 steak dishes cooked exactly as requested, ranging from medium-rare to medium and medium-well, and 3 seabass dishes. Every guest was happy with their meal, and the steaks were cooked consistently. What I appreciated most was that Kasun listened carefully to my requests and delivered exactly what we discussed without trying to upsell additional services. He was professional, reliable, and easy to work with throughout the process.
Such a wonderful experience working with Chef Kasun. He has been so responsive and accommodative with all the request, even the last minute menu change was done. Food was amazing.
We had a baby shower for a friend and Kasun came up with the perfect menu for our group (including paella and filet mignon with a chimichurri sauce). Some of us are from Spain and were impressed with his paella! He was very responsive and professional. From start to finish, it was a great experience! highly recommended!

Chef Kasun was very responsive and his communication throughout was nothing short of excellent! He presented a variety of menu options and worked with us to create a culinary experience that was memorable but also fit our budget. Chef Kasun arrived as scheduled and immediately got to work. Each course was prepared and presented beautifully and with perfect cadence. He even went out of his way to prepare an off-menu item for one of our little ones. This is an experience our family will be talking about for years!
