I was very happy with the service I received. They were friendly and very nice and polite. They did a great job in assembling my 2 recliners and did not dilly dally around. I would recommend Essential Services if you need something assembled. Great job. I will use them again if I need something put together.
they were very quick to move the stuff that we needed moved. even the very heavy things. they were also very polite. even took the joking things I had said with a smile. They also didn't charged alot like other movers do. The taller guy tried to use my garage as a slip and slide. lol. They didn't ever get mad about the mess in the garage. I will be using them again.
The night before my big move, I found myself down two movers. I went on Thumbtack and Jason responded immediately. He called and we spoke briefly and the next morning his team was there. He and his team walked through the logistics with me and they did an incredible job. I’ll definitely hire again!
I needed Essential Services to help move big stuff into my storage unit for me. The owner worked with me for a date, time, and price. It was just him and 1 other guy but when I say they showed up although a little late they packed the U-Haul and unloaded everything in 2 hours. He even strategically packed the storage unit so everything fit. I was concerned it was going to be too small. So for this reason they get a 5/5 from me. I will be booking again for when it’s time to move everything out of storage into whatever home I choose.
I was excited to use a black owed company. But they were not on time, and I had already pushed the time back. When they arrived, he told me I told him I was moving from a one-bedroom apartment. I never said that. I told him not all the bedrooms are coming. The only thing I did forget to mention is I had a fridge that was coming as well. I feel like they overcharged me ( $165 hr, they came for 6 hrs in 20-30 minutes; they had stopped at a gas station after the first round. That's only $990; I'm not sure how he added on an extra $106. I would never use their service again!
The move went pretty well. The value was high and the professionalism was excellent.
These are your guys. The team was amazing and truly went above and beyond. I had a lot of very fragile boxes (contents were fragile) and they were extremely careful and respectful. It ended up taking a bit longer than we’d planned because I had more stuff than I thought. They were gracious and completed the job in its entirety. I would recommend this company to anyone in need of its services.

Adding punctuality and super responsive! Lamar and his colleague were professionals who I will call again and recommend. This was not an easy item to move or set up but they handled it wonderfully!
They were excellent!! Very responsive and communicated in very timely manner. I had a very, very heavy sold wood tv cabinet that was in two large pieces. They move the top to the garage and the bottom half to the basement. No issues at all! Would definitely recommend and will will use again.

I hired Essential Services to move a very large, very heavy wooden photography backdrop into my studio. I had never used ThumbTack before, so this was my first experience. Lamar called me back very quickly and was to my studio within the hour. Actually, from start (inquiry) to finish (payment) I think we clocked under two hours. It was such a relief to have that backdrop out of our van and into my studio. We couldn’t have moved it without Lamar and his guys. THANK YOU!

Lamar and his team were fantastic! Fast and pros at what they do. We had 2 very large solid bedroom pieces that were extremely difficult to maneuver in the stairway to the 2nd floor. They managed quickly, and with zero wall dings or any scratches. Highly recommend and will be using again on our move in the fall. Great experience! Thank you Lamar!
I had a horrible experience with Essential Services. I was so excited to use them because of the great reviews they had but I really don’t know how they received those positive reviews after my experience. For reference- I was moving from a one bedroom apartment to another one bedroom apartment that was a 15 minute drive away. I had already boxed everything up except for the large furniture and put it by the door. To start, the movers were 30 minutes late with no notice of a late arrival, I had to call to make sure they were still coming. Then when they arrived they were very slow to get started. They had been packing the truck for about 2 hours when I heard yelling downstairs. They were fighting with my landlord because they had made damages to the building (I will attach pictures- these damages were all along the doors and walls) and he was telling them to be careful and they were fighting back. In addition to the damage they caused to my old apartment building, they also damaged my couch. This wasn’t the only instance of them being unprofessional. They were screaming at each other while moving furniture, disrupting others in the building, and smoking around all of my belongings about every 15 minutes. At one point while unloading at the new apartment they somehow looked into how much rent is and were making comments about it. Overall, extremely unprofessional. Once we began unloading at the new apartment, I called to speak with the Owner to inform him of the damages that were made and to let them know how slowly the process was going. The Owner reassured me that he would take care of any issues. They continued to move extremely slowly. At one point, I caught one of the movers taking one trip carrying a single 5 pound bag. At the end of the day it took them 8 hours to move my one bedroom apartment. When I asked for an estimate of how long it should take, and they said 4. Once they were done, they called the Owner and had him on speakerphone. I don’t think the Owner knew he was on speakerphone because he was talking about how they packed someone in Cincinnati (same sized truck) drove to Louisville, unpacked that truck, and were already on the way back. So basically the same job, but almost 2 hours away instead of 15 minutes and they were done well before mine was done. In my opinion, they saw a young girl that they felt they could take advantage of and so they decided to go as slow as they could so they could get more money since you pay by the hour. They then charged me over $1K for the job, even though the Owner said he would take care of things for me because of the damages and how slow they went. Then, late that night, the Owner called me again trying to ask for more money for them to get rid of a TV stand for me. At that point I was not going to pay them more money. I felt completely scammed and taken advantage of.
