Long story short: the work itself seems fine, BUT they didn't do it they way they had quoted us, which is unfortunate, since that was what had initially sold us on their service. Long story: We have been in this 100 yr old house for 1 year and noticed that water comes in through the front basement wall. Not a deluge, but a bit more than a trickle. We thought it would be best to go ahead and waterproof the basement, so we got a couple of quotes and Floodbusters gave us the quote that made the most sense. They said they would put the sump pump in the LEFT corner of the front of the basement and the drain would be on the LEFT side of the front basement wall. This worked nicely because the house is an end unit, and we have an incline directly next to the house so the water would have gone down the side of the house and into the alley. First issue. The proposal was sent to me a few days later and when I reviewed it, the drawing of the proposed work made no sense. I went back and forth with their office and finally they realized they had confused the proposals and sent me the correct one. When the day of work came they showed up on time and my husband and I left to go to work. Our first mistake: we did not clarify with the workers what they were doing. The workers texted me around 2pm saying they were finished and would come back the next day. The next day I was already planning on being home all day. They showed up time again. Around 2pm they texted that they were finished and wanted to show me the work. Second issue: I met them outside and to my surprise they had put the long PVC drain in the FRONT of the house. Our yard wasn't winning any awards for best yards as it was, but now? Ugly as hell. I was too surprised to say anything, the workers were mostly concerned about the PVC pipe and how we would be able to mow the yard. Which was a little odd, if that was a concern maybe you should have brought it up earlier?? As he talked I noticed that the hole in the brick where the PVC was coming through was just laying in said hole, no cement. When I pointed that out they said "Oh yeah! we forgot about that." They filled that hole and then cleaned up and left. When my husband came home he was just as surprised as I was about the drain in the front yard. When we went in the basement he realized that they had put the sump pump in the RIGHT side of the basement, which made no sense. The outlet for the sump pump was on the LEFT side, which was why the original proposal had made sense. What also made no sense is that the basement floor, which is all concrete, now has some exposed rebar. I don't want to discredit the actual work. A day or so after there was a huge rain and the basement was completely dry. I also don't want to let myself off the hook, we should have clarified with the workers exactly what they were planning on doing instead of taking it for granted that they were doing exactly what had been agreed on. However, communication was not good. Hence the 3 stars.
