They are still working on it but so far they are professional, honest and punctual- UPDATE: 5 weeks later buyer beware!! the work was left unfinished, I hired them to update basement bath-kitchen to be disabled compliant - I am an amputee-they have no ethics and left it unfinished and unsafe. Had to hire others to finish. I cancelled another contract to remodel deck , even thou the hand written contract did not have a cancellation date, they forfited my deposit for the other project of deck remodel I had. Going thru arbitration to try to get my money back some refund for the work left unfinished.
For U was an excellent partner from start to finish, bringing helpful suggestions and options from initial consultation through timely and flawless execution. Communication was top notch and super-responsive. Jamie is a true craftsman and did excellent quality work. I recommend them without reservation.
Great experience, great outcome, great communication. Brandon and John our main contact were extremely responsive and helpful. We started with one project (tile flooring replacement in 2 rooms) and moved on adding more rooms (walls, fireplace and flooring) including a full bathroom renovation. Jamie is truly a master carpenter
They love to make excuses and then be rude about it. We had made arrangements a week in advance so that my wife and I could both be there because that is what they asked for. I took the day off from work to be completely free. An hour before our scheduled time I receive a text that the boss’s car is broken down not even a call just a text to reschedule. I texted back and I quote “maybe you should call. I don’t like BS. It turns me off really quick”. I got a call from said boss who instead of apologizing appropriately took my text personally and said he is sorry I don’t believe his car broke down and he does not blow off appointments and has been in business for 32 years. We have never met or done business before and I don’t know him from Adam. All I heard was excuses and being self defensive. Not sure how they have been in business that long with that approach. The better way to handle that call is to say. And I quote again. “Hi this is so and so. I apologize for the inconvenience. How can we make it better?” That is free advice btw I charge $300 an hour to teach companies how to be better at customer service and drive new business. When I laid into him about his approach. He felt it necessary to say that he could help me and have a nice day in a calm voice. As if he was superior to me. I have no issue raising my voice when I am treated in such a way. I hung up first.
They do not mention in their ad that they only install windows you buy from them. That may be ok but it should be noted in thumbtack and it’s a red flag showing they are looking to profit from their own windows for wherever they may get them. Profit is not dirty but not being up front is a bit misleading
It is my first review ever, and after such a bad experience and for no reason, I decided to write one. I send the project information to the ”For U Bilders” contractor using the Thumbtack app, and the scheduling manager reached out to me by texting ~ 9:30 PM, saying that he will contact me shortly without asking me if it was a good time for me. I took the prompt request to talk with me this late as a positive sign, even though it is unusual. A few minutes later, he called and said that he is going to transfer the call to his boss. The ”boss” appeared to be in a rush and start questioning me about the house type, age, and how I wanted the windows to be installed. As soon I started answering, the ”boss” started interrupting me, and when I asked him to give me the chance to answer, he told me he knows how to install windows, and he hanged up on me. In the beginning, I didn’t realize that he end the call because the scheduling manager took over, and he told me that his boss left the call. I was surprised, and I said to him that it is not a good customer service and he shouldn’t treat his potential customers in this way, but he did not “let down” his boss he said that since I did not sign with them a contract, yet I’m not their customer. At this point, I’m glad that they demonstrate their arrogant attitude during our first call, clearly indicating to me that I needed to let them go and look for professional people.

The dumpster was delivered a couple days ago, but the workers did not show up because of family issues. However the contruction manager has done a good job in keeping in touch with me. Three workers came this morning and did a good job removing the old roofing and the damaged rafters. It's now 2 pm on Saturday and heavy rain has stopped work. My comment yesterday were too brief and taken out of oontext are vemry unfair to For U Builders. I wrongfully answered a query from Tumbtack with the impression that it was only an updated comment on the status, and not the actual final preview. I would have preferred doing the final review at the end of all work. However, I want to edit and correct what was originally printed as my review at once. Importantly this company gave me a very good price for doing this difficult work and I apologize for having made my review in a too brief a manner that distorted reality. Certainly with all of the rain we have been getting it must be very difficult if not impossible to schedule all outside work. I would have preferred to make a final review at the end of all work, however on wanted to fix my brief initial review comments ASAP.
For U Builders replaced 14 windows in my entire house. Leon and his team began work in the morning and didn’t stop until the project was completed by the end of the day. They did an excellent job. I was extremely impress and would highly recommend them for another project.
Took about 6 weeks to do our farmers porch. His main crew of guys did a fabulous job. Weather took a toll on how long it took but at the end of the project we are pleased . Looks beautiful
For U Builders recently completed a complete vinyl siding job and wrapping all the trim. This was a big job and there was a fair amount of trim that needed to be repaired due to rot. They entire crew did an excellent job. John, Brandon, Leon and Alex were all great to work with and I couldn't be happier with their work and professionalism. Their pricing was excellent and I would highly recommend them for your project.
One of the very best contractors I have ever worked with. Removed and installed my guesthouse roof on the day scheduled in 8 hours. Perfect! That they have a dedicated scheduler means you are always kept informed. Sheetrock installers arrived next business day. Very responsive and punctual. Excellent teamwork.
How quickly they could do my deck before my daughter's graduation party.
We had a terrific experience with For U Builders, from the very beginning when I posted on Thumbtack, to the very end when they finished the job (building us a 20 x 26 ft deck) 1/2-full week ahead of their projected completion date. Brandon was incredibly responsive (including replying to texts and emails at all hours!), John (the owner) was personable, informative, and straight-forward, and the workers (led by Shamar) arrived on time, worked hard, and left the work site tidy and neat every single night when they left. When they placed one set of stairs a little farther to the center than we wanted, we simply said so and they immediately moved them, saying "No problem! We want you to be happy!" They were pleasant, professional, and very easy to work with. And we love our deck!! We wouldn't hesitate to hire them again, or to recommend them. Thanks!!
They came by to check out the job, were very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a miscommunication in getting the quote, but are working through it. Can't speak to much more yet, but clearly a company that cares about their reputation.
This was my first experience working with Thumbtack and For U Builders. I have a small house, and in the past, many contractors have simply not returned my calls because the job was considered "too small to bother." For U Builders installed 2 new custom exterior doors on my home. From the very beginning, Brandon (scheduling) and John (owner) were very communicative -- we had to schedule around the door delivery, and they were able to fit in my project as soon as the last door arrived. Stephen (Carpenter) is amazing! He made it look so easy and was attentive to every detail -- my house was built in the 1930s, so adjustments were necessary to make everything fit. When the job was finished, there wasn't a trace of dust or debris anywhere! I am very, very happy with the results, and will definitely work with For U Builders in the future. The entire team are professional, friendly, efficient and a joy to work with! Thank you!
For U Builders replaced 7 basement windows for us. The introduction/quote visit was excellent. Really nice folks! Follow up was good. Brandon stayed on top of our order and kept us informed. Install was great. Leon tailored the trim to the space so it wasn't a "one size fits all" install. Very much appreciate that - and they were done earlier in the day than we expected. This would be a 5 star review if the time between the initial appointment and the installation hadn't been over 6 weeks. We understand the windows come from PA, and there was the Thanksgiving holiday in there, but that's twice as long as unexpected/were told.
