Project not started yet

Found this pro/company and company manager soon replied to confirm to send someone to evaluate the project and said office will provide quotation soon. I followed up and they said they do not have manpower for next 4-5 months. Quite funny, if so, why they did not mention before project evacuation? My speculation is they do not want to do smaller project, which is totally fine. Just need to tell me rather than wasting my time. Bad experience!

Scheduled for 1PM but then they said they would arrive sometime *between* 1 to 2. I let them know I had another company coming at 2PM so as long as they finished up their estimating/look before 2 there wouldn't be an overlap (I didn't mind on the overlap, just letting them courtesy know as I would have to go around the front of the house to answer the door.) Instead I got a call cancelling the appointment because "they didn't want to come if some other company might be there." As I don't control this staff's arrival time nor how long it takes this company to work up a bid, this really means scheduling 2 hours for this company to work up a bid which is ridiculous - this is a relatively straightforward project and no one so far has been here more than 20 minutes to work up their quote. Its natural that there is competition for work (that's how Thumbtack works....) This is unprofessional behavior and if the company has silly rules like this they should disclose ahead of time in their profile and at scheduling. This wasted a spot I could have used to get my options in for discussion/claim with insurance company and get damaged repaired/mitigated quickly. Not my kind of contractor. No other company has behaved this way. I suggest you reconsider your approach with customers.
