Over twenty years of teaching, coaching, & mentoring experience, and the experience gained from over 100 national & international standardised test sittings inform the individualized programs that I will craft to improve your test scores and strengthen your reading, writing, reasoning, and quantitative skills. While at Yale University, I qualified as a USA Track & Field Level 1 Coach. At Columbia University, I worked as a graduate teaching assistant and as a lecturer with the State University of New York - Purchase. I also coached fellow graduate students preparing for interviews with elite management consultancies, outperforming our counterparts in the Business school in the midst of the 2008 downturn. After graduate school, I worked as a lecturer at the W.E.B. DuBois Scholars Institute at Princeton University and at several colleges in the City University of New York system. I also co-founded a teen summer entrepreneurship program. As an exam coach, I have worked with students ranging from underserved students in the Bronx to over-scheduled students in Bahrain. As an exam enthusiast, I have earned: - perfect ACT, SAT, GMAT/V, GMAT/Q, GRE/V, GRE/Q scores; - a 178 on the LSAT; - a 790 on the GMAT; - 99th percentile scores on the LSAT en Español and the EXADEP (Exam de Admisión a Estudios de Posgrado); - and a 90th percentile score on the GRE-Psychology subject test. My son decided to write the SAT very late into his senior year. He took the test once and fell short of his target. Then Horace took over. Horace understood his weak areas and since time was short, he decided to target specific areas of the test that will give him a boost. This worked. Last SAT, his score went up 150 points. Horace is also a caring person and followed up with the student till his last night if the exam. Definitely recommend him to anyone looking to improve or start their SAT journey.

Horace did a great job preparing me for the LSAT. He was able to personalize every session to fit the areas I needed to work on. He gave me multiple homework assignments and drills so I had plenty of materials to prepare with. He did a really great job explaining why I was getting certain question types wrong and identifying an alternative path to help me improve my score. I could see a big improvement in my score and consistency in just a few sessions!
Horace is good at what he does. I contacted him in October for assistance with college applications and SAT preparation. Though completing both things simultaneously was a daunting task, he not only made the process less stressful, but produced quality essays that presented me well in front of the best colleges in the nation. On top of that, all essay we worked were submitted on time. He has a good mix of professionalism and charisma and gets to know you personally so that he can make his work for you more quality. I can confidently say that after having applied to 15+ colleges and scoring better on the SAT I could not have done it without Horace.
Highly recommend Horace! We hired Horace to help our high school Sr. do some test prep and college applications. Our son had a few struggles during the pandemic and we just needed someone other than us to help him find the path and be inspired for college. Horace had a real task with our son—definitely not a kid who dreamed of acing the SAT or ACT. Despite our reluctant student, who often cancelled or rescheduled with Horace, Horace powered through. We are happy to say that despite our son’s mediocre desire he applied and was accepted to college. Just found out he earned a scholarship too!
