Before this, I worked inside the marketing and advertising world, which is exactly why brands and small businesses come to me for commercial work: I understand what story an image needs to tell once it leaves the camera, not just how it should look. For couples and families, the approach is similar: what story are we telling or celebrating? I spend real time understanding what you want before we ever start shooting, so the session feels easy instead of staged. I came to Jared only looking to get a new professional headshot for my business and he went above and beyond. I had never done a real photoshoot before, but he made the whole process feel simple and easy. His work speaks for itself, but if you want someone that can make an idea in your head come to life then look no further.

Jared rescheduled our shooting day and offered a "discount", I requested for him to send ideas prior to the shooting so I can prepare better but this was not delivered. On the shooting day, he only asked a few questions and started taking pictures, I was not surprised by the results, poor quality, no vision. I even had to ask him to photoshop something basic. My advice is, don't hire Jared, use your iPhone camera.
Jared was absolutely amazing! He managed to give me beautiful graduation photos for my college graduation, as well as beautiful photos of my boyfriend and myself that we both cherish. Jared was so awesome, he helped me and my boyfriend just get out of our shells and just be ourselves and he captured some amazing in the moment shots that are perfect representations of our relationship. I would recommend Jared to anyone, he overall was really great!

Jared is an amazing photographer as he is a person. He makes you feel comfortable and isn’t always checking his watch to see the time you have left. Jared was collaborative, creative and a great communicator. He was able to shoot our daughter's senior photos, our immediate family and some extended family members. We are so pleased with our photos.
Jared shot professional photos for me last month. The entire experience was terrific. His quality and professionalism are outstanding. I am not someone who likes to be the center of attention and I have a "Chandler Bing smile" to boot! Jared made me feel very comfortable from the get-go and put me in poses that felt - and ultimately looked - very natural. He is clearly an artist but has a thorough grounding in the commercial goals for the project - he really understood what I needed from the shots and got it. Moreover the guy is a true professional. I had suggested the location (a hotel) for the shoot and when I arrived he had already walked the grounds and found the best areas there to shoot and had coordinated with management to make sure it was ok to do so. His service after the shoot was good too. He set expectations every step of the way and I never had to bug him - even though he got sick around the time he was to deliver the photos. Oh... and did I mention that the resulting photos were fantastic!? True testament: everyone has given me compliments on them and asks me who shot them. I don't hesitate to recommend Jared Murray and will be using him again soon!
I don't have my pictures back yet but I'm sure they'll be great. Jared is very professional, personable, and knowledgeable. He was able to get a lot of good shots and paid attention to lighting and background. I am really happy with my choice of photographer and highly recommend him. Update: Got my pics back super fast. I don’t use Thumbtack often, but was in need of updated headshots for my portfolio. Jared exceeded all expectations and made me feel very comfortable! He and I discussed the vision I had and he made it happen! He had precision to detail, which I appreciated so much. He allowed me to do a variety of “poses” to get more than one look. I look forward to working with him again!
MY CAT, ERIK, WAS SO IMPRESSED, THERE WERE STARS IN HIS EYES (no really, see the included pics, look in his eyes). THANKS, JARED! ......I asked Jared for a difficult task: to do a session with my CAT. I was really uneasy about the whole idea just because cats can be unpredictable sometimes and not very cooperative for a photo-shoot (unlike dogs). What stood out to me about Jared was that, from the start, he had a very flexible approach to this goal of mine. This comforted my nerves and apprehension about how my cat would handle a structured/arranged photo-shoot. Luckily everything went just fine and he got some GORGEOUS images within just an hour. But I still appreciated his openness and flexible approach to photographing such a finicky subject as a cat!
