Reviews
Beware of LDL design!!! They are not a professional construction company. Listen to the warnings of the other reviewers and the fact that they are being sued for bad practices. I experienced it and wish I was did. I hired them to rearrange 2 bedroom doors and redo the stairs to my attic so that they are less steep and up to code. This is an older house and the attic was designed for storage but we were using it as a work space. I requested they come and let me know if my design idea would work and Josh came by with a young lady who said she was an interior designer. They were so convinced it was a great idea and they could design a space I would love. Josh kept following up about how good a job they could do and that they had a great carpenter that would design a great set of stairs. All BS. First of all their quote was so high that I told them forget about it. He kept calling stating that he wanted to do the project and what he needs to do to get my business. I told him the difference between his quote and my max budget was about $5000 and they came back with a quote to match it. I wish I told them no thanks because after signing on with them in September 2025, it is now February 2026 and I still have no stairs. Had to part ways with them after thanksgiving when I realized how terrible a mistake I made. Mind you, I told them I needed the space back before thanksgiving because my kids come home from college. That’s one of the many promises they broke. I could have health with that if they were just able to install stairs. The carpenter literally could not come up with a set of stairs that worked. Crazy his first attempt was using 2x4s. Later on while getting quotes from other contractors I realized the mess they had put me in. My stairwell cannot pass inspection without major changes to the adjacent bedroom and can no longer include a door. Why, my stairwell is 31 inches wide and Massachusetts state code requires at least 36 inches wide as well as a 36x36 landing at the top and bottom of the stairs. None of which they seemed to know about, or did they? Also realized they misrepresented the width of my stairwell on the permit by putting 40 inch width stairwell in the required drawing.
Work is in progress with LDL. Thumbtack somehow got me to this screen and I cant delete it, and can only update it. I only provide reviews once the work is fully completed. I will provide a complete review at project completion. Assume "3" is neutral until then. Thank you.
We asked LDL to fit a fan in a bathroom that didn't have a fan, with a crazy tight sloping attic space above. The responsiveness and communication were both fantastic, and we're really happy with the result.
Do not hire! Research lawsuits against LDL before hiring. We had issues from day one when excavators hit our sewage drain, because no one called digsafe, and left it there with no repair and no temporary barrier around the hole. Every step of the way there was an issue. Matt then refused to have contact with us and threatened to discontinue the work. All communication afterwards was with John who was great. They hired subcontractors who didn’t know what they were doing, and less than 6 months later we already have issues (siding falling off the house, plumbers connecting everything to a pipe that wasn’t sewage causing a backup and raw sewage is still sitting underground because Matt would not get someone here to pump it out- just a few of our many issues). I reached out for weeks regarding repairs and reimbursement for expenses we had to pay out of pocket for repairs, and kept getting nowhere. At this point we now have to pursue legal action to get reimbursed for the repairs because of their poor workmanship. I can go on and on with a list of issues (including killing a rabbit and leaving it for my toddlers to find). I’m not sure how they have positive reviews but do your research before hiring this company.
LDL was responsive and fast to do the work. They did a great job running a pipe through the roof of my house. Definitely recommend!
After speaking with the pro and getting clarification, I wanted to update my review to be fair to them and their business. It seems there were some miscommunications and misunderstandings initially, but we were able to talk things through and clear them up. While I ultimately decided not to move forward due to communication preferences, I appreciate the effort the pro made to follow up and clarify the situation. I wish them the best moving forward.
Worked with Mike on the project and would highly recommend working them with LDL design for your carpentry projects, they’re committed , professional, knowledgeable and trustworthy.
We have a cape style house and had this load bearing wall from our living room to our kitchen and for years we have wanted it down but it was too expensive everywhere we went or they didn’t want to deal with a “small job”. I found Matt and his team on thumbtack and he called me right away, we went over our budget and what we wanted and he said it was no problem. John came to measure everything and was a great point of contact throughout the whole process answering everything we needed and we needed a lot! Electritian, demo, plumber, flooring, painting, baseboards, inspectors, dry wall, dumpster, were all here to go over what we wanted/needed first and then they would come another day to get the job done. The wall was taken down and the beam was up in 1 day! It was awesome and now with 2 dogs, a toddler and a baby on the way we can enjoy our not so small house anymore! Can’t thank Matt and his team enough! Enjoy the pictures but please ignore the floors we are going to do vinyl at a different time.
I didn’t end up hiring LDL design but they were professional in getting back to me, so I wanted to thank them
Had a bathroom remodeled that was too big for me to tackle. Called LDL and received a fast quote. They were on property 3 days later ready to work. Beautiful craftsmanship, professional attitude, punctual, and kept constant contact to ensure the project went correctly. Will gladly hire LDL Design Center for future projects.
I had a small job that was urgent. I called DLD. They responded immediately and wanted to help me even though it was a small project. The owner sent out his Dad at 8 am the next morning and made it happen and put my urgent situation at ease. Thank you DLD. Nice People.
Matt and Mike were great to work with. They assisted me with the demolition of my shed and assisted in getting my home exterior in FHA condition. They’re very responsive and professional. Looking forward to working with them again in the very near future.
I’ve never left a negative review, but unfortunately, this kitchen project encountered multiple issues that could have been avoided with proper execution. Although Matt addressed my immediate concerns, the unnecessary problems should have been minimized if the project had been done correctly the first time. Despite his workers completing the project and connecting my appliances, Matt missed the final walk-through with me, the homeowner, which left me somewhat disappointed.
Added a new kitchen (moving old kitchen), removed support wall and added beam, added kitchen, elevated floor, added mini splits Pros- 1) overall got the work done with expected quality 2) expanded scope to cater to some design changes Cons- 1)timeline and work plan was significantly delayed. Sometimes this was due to my requests but often had critical path items that could have been completed faster (e.g., lost his electrician halfway through project) 2) sometimes pulling teeth to have him stick to the timeline and plan and required significant follow up to assure work was done 3) some of the additions to the scope were more expensive than I would have anticipated (e.g panel switching)
kitchen remodel was left incomplete. Did not communicate unless I texted to find out if anyone was coming by to do any work... someone would MAYBE show up once a week. gave up on trying and was left to do the finish work with someone else.
Matt is great! He has an amazing crew. I had Matt paint the exterior of my house with a color change. I had the prep work done prior to hiring Matt. When Matt's crew came they could obviously see there was still prep work to be done. For a small additional fee I had Matt's crew complete the prep work. Prep work determines your finished result. My house came out fantastic! I could not be happier, my house has never looked so good !
I recently hired LDL design center for painting my condo - walls and ceiling. Matt was very responsive and sent me a quote quickly. The painter was very professional and did a great job at protecting floor and kitchen. The workman ship was great! I will definitely hire them again!
Great outcome, meets the requirements and offers affordable prices compare with other company out there.
Matt and his team did an amazing job with the renovation of our sunroom! From demo, to new floors, tiling, and painting everything came out great!
