I could not be happier with my experience. They showed up on time they did exactly what I asked. They did it quickly and they even came back the next day to re-tie the cover on the way I wanted it tied I’ll be using them to open my pool in the spring.
On time, did a great job, reasonable price
initial opeing was great but then the contractor stopped answering my text messages and phone calls. he said he would be out here every week but he came twice and that was it.
We recently ordered a new sand filter for our pool and wondered who could we hire to replace it? We checked Thumbtack for possibilities. Within 15 minutes we received a response, quote for cost & timeframe to complete the job by M&G pool services. We now have a brand new filter (plus the 500 lbs of sand) installed & ready to go. I hired Max mid July of 2022. The first year things were pretty hit and miss, with the pool turning green several times during the summer and communication issues etc. I considered finding someone new but wondered if maybe it was just challenging to figure out a new pool and he was priced competitively and seemed nice enough that I decided to continue onto the next year and had him close the pool as well. In 2023, things seemed a bit better, we had him open the pool - we still had struggles with it turning green sometimes, gate getting left open once and dogs almost getting out, some promises of showing up and not coming but overall I felt like it could be worse. Most of the time he showed up when he said he did and we got to use the pool a decent bit more than the prior year. We also had him close it. Now in 2024, we hired him again and he seemed to have a lot more trouble opening the pool this go around despite him claiming it looked much better. I asked him if the rates were the same. He said yes. I asked him what he qualified as opening a pool (cost wise) and he said “until it’s ready to swim, otherwise I would lose customers.” Unfortunately, the pool took longer than he anticipated to be ready but was honestly well within what I expected. I asked some questions but was never upset about it. At one point he asked for help understanding the directions a pool product he wanted to add that he thought would help. I thought, “hey that takes guts to ask” and explained what it said and clarified that the pump had to be turned off when the product (Alum) would be added according to the instructions on it. We also agreed that I would send him photos of the pool after 24 hours and then after 48 hrs so he could monitor the progress. The next morning he messaged me asking if I had turned the pump off. I told him no, since we had agreed he would and I hadn’t been outside/realized it was still on. I went and turned it off and messaged him, concerned since what I read online implied it could be pretty damaging if you were running the pump. He didn’t reply. The next day I sent him a photo of the pool and a status update as agreed. I did this again after 48 hrs. On the third day of messaging and not hearing back I sent another photo and asked him what the plan was. He didn’t reply till the next day, telling me he was on his way to my place. He was clearly frustrated when he showed up to my place and told me I kept insisting the pool was ready but he felt he was already losing money. I told him I wasn’t insisting - I was concerned over the product he used and miscommunication and I was following up. He then asked if I could split some chemical cost with him if his next idea didn’t work. I told him we could discuss it but he had just said recently that the goal was it wasn’t opened till it was usable and it hadn’t been. I also suggested an alternative product we had used last year that seemed to help when it was cloudy in case his plan didn’t work. He seemed relieved as he had forgotten it had done well. However, the shock wound up working by the next day which I reported to him happily and it was now usable. Before the first service (and I should note he had his son and someone else helping him this year) it had started to get a green tint the day before they came. I didn’t say anything because I assumed they would adjust the chemicals and stuff when they came anyway. Well the crew came, they didn’t clean out the robot cleaner like they normally would and left - still with a tint. About 24 hours later I messaged Max with a photo of the pool noting it wasn’t cloudy but the color that had been there despite the chemicals added. I asked him how to help/if it was safe. He didn’t reply. I waited two days and then asked him about when he would be coming out to service since Memorial Day was a holiday - and his usual day. He replied and I asked him if he could also answer the question I had asked two days prior. When he answered he said he would see if he could stop by the next day with “mooooooore” chemicals. I said okay. At this point, I was ready to search for new service because I was pretty fed up. The next morning I messaged him to let him know I had cleaned the robot cleaner and put it back in the pool. I wasn’t sure if there was a reason they hadn’t put it back in but a lot of debris was developing so I wanted to try and get it up. His response “ With all respect, I’m done , just look for another company, your not happy and your are not going to be happy with the job, thanks” I rarely write reviews - but this experience was beyond frustrating. At no point was I rude to him. At no point did I ask for anything more than the basics of pool maintenance and communication. He’s right - I was not going to be happy with him continuing not to communicate and do a subpar job. Note: Photos are some of the ones that I have sent to him regarding the pool over the last couple years.
M&G was exceptional. Fixed my pull pump and got my pull running smooth. Been looking for a pool guy for a long time. Happy to work with them and very happy with the work they did. I’ll be using them going forward and very happy to recommend them to friends. Thank you.

I purchased a new home with a pool and originally went with a well known pool cleaning company. After seeing them pull up one day as I was leaving, I decided to look at my cameras. I watched them walk in my backyard, look at my pool, and turn around and leave. I decided to look for a new company and came across Max. I have been using him for a few months now and he has been honest, punctual and worth every penny! My pool is spotless and we have continued to enjoy it throughout the winter months. I highly recommend Max for all your pool needs.
