About Marcos Paulo
My name is Marcos Barboza, and I have been teaching Portuguese as a foreign language in the United States since 2011. Over the years, I have worked with students of all ages and levels, helping them build confidence and achieve real progress in speaking Portuguese. My teaching approach is practical, engaging, and focused on real-life communication. I hold three master’s degrees, including one with a major in Foreign Language Education, with a focus on teaching Portuguese as a foreign language. This academic background allows me to combine effective teaching strategies with a deep understanding of how students learn a new language. In addition to my academic experience, I am the founder and director of Coruja Academy Languages, where I have helped hundreds of students learn Portuguese through personalized and structured lessons. Whether you are learning Portuguese for travel, work, or personal interest, I would be happy to guide you on your journey and make your learning experience both effective and enjoyable. Feel free to reach out — I look forward to working with you!

Marcos is an excellent teacher that makes every lesson a-fun-to-learn session. He combines theory with practical and real life exercises. I totally recommend him for any level!!!!
Marcos makes learning a new language fun! He is very patient and positive. I always leave the sessions feeling good and having learned something new. I also appreciate the homework to keep progressing. Obrigada Marcos!
Marcos is the absolute best!!! He’s very knowledgeable, charismatic, and knows how to teach in a way that makes it easy to understand the concepts.
My wife and I were looking for a Portuguese teacher for myself (she’s Brazilian, and I want to learn). I started taking classes with Marcos back in September and I absolutely love it! Marcos finds what learning process that works best for you and makes adjustments to make your time and money worth it. Marcos is more than a professor to his students, he’s a friend, and i think thats what makes learning with him so easy! I highly recommend him to anyone that is looking to learn!
