Mr. Read is an experienced teacher with a wealth of musical knowledge. I have been taking frequent lessons this summer in order to learn the foundation of the banjo. Otis’s help has been invaluable. I recommend and in fact my mother is now taking lessons from Otis.

About Otis Read
Greetings! I teach guitar, bass guitar, banjo, ukulele, mandolin, bouzouki and even harmonica! All this is done out of my studio in Warren, RI from which I do both remote and in person lessons! Do you love music? I’ve been playing for over 50 years, and help beginners and advanced players alike to fall in love with music even more, and expand their technical skillset. Whether you’re interested in learning certain pieces, reading music, exploring music theory, accompanying your singing with guitar, songwriting, feeling comfortable jamming with friends, learning finger picking or improvising, I’d love to support you. For the parents who are looking, I also often work with kids, as young as 4, who love music and want to start to play (I’d be happy to have a conversation about your child’s specific needs). Whether you’ve never played, you’re self-taught, or you’ve taken years of formal training, I would love to help you bring more music into your life!

Otis has been such a great instructor so far. I just started and I can tell that I will grasp the concepts soon. I am also enjoying the experience so far.
Otis knows his business well and has a good teaching skills
Otis is a great guitar! He is patient and gets to know you as an individual to teach using your strengths. I look forward to every lesson with him.
Super friendly, supportive and engaging. He works great with our 16 year old daughter, who is a beginner and no experience. She is able to play the scale, read basic music and play very basic intros all in under a month.
I love working with Otis. He’s really relaxed and makes learning fun and is always encouraging which was exactly what I needed. It’s been really fun to see myself progress while having fun. Best of both worlds
I have been taking lessons with Otis for about 2 years, and in that time I have seen a a significant amount of improvement in my playing. Prior to his lessons I had attempted to self teach with little success, but I have now seen consistent progress. As with learning any instrument what you put into the experience outside of the lesson will have the biggest impact on your overall progression, so in a sense it is what you make it. However, Otis is very good at giving you the tools to effectuate productive practice at home, he comes highly recommended.
Otis is an amazing guitar teacher. Not only is he passionate about playing the instrument, but he is also passionate about his students. He is very patient and will adapt to your learning style while also challenging you to get out of your comfort zone! I have been learning from Otis for few months now and definitely still enjoy the lessons and playing the guitar!
Ottis has been great. My 7 year old son has now been getting guitar lessons from Ottis going on 2 years. Ottis has been great at keeping my son motivated and the lessons interesting and fun.
Otis has been fantastic in helping my eight year old learn and enjoy the guitar for the first time. His calm and friendly demeanor, and extensive knowledge of helped her to quickly learn many songs and enjoy the learning process.
