About Raincarver Studios
Serving the NYC Metro area, the Tri-state, and the Hudson Valley, I provide services for garden design, installation, maintenance, and consultation. I've been gardening in the Northeast for more than 20 years, and I understand the unique challenges and opportunities of creating low-maintenance gardens that thrive in our climate. My new project, Raincarver Studios, is a landscape and garden design studio that draws on my background in horticulture, design, art, performance, and sustainable practices to create unique sanctuaries for my clients. With a focus on native alternatives to invasive species and high-performance ethically-propagated plants, as well as bespoke displays and self-sustaining enclosures, I tackle some of the most challenging aspects of gardening. Whether it is strategizing for low-maintenance, high-heat, low-light, soil remediation, pest-resistance, child and pet-friendly environments, or other considerations, I'll meet the challenge to create the garden of your dreams.
Reviews
My greatest praise goes out to Tom. I found his expertise so valuable and he went beyond what he promised every time. He has a great touch, is a great teacher and overall a pleasure to work with. He took every effort to understand my vision and to only improve on it. While I have always done seeds he helped me to choose perennials to fit my natural look cost-effectively and hopefully saving work next year. 5 stars will absolutely recommend
Tom did excellent job. He was very responsive and provided a list of recommendations for keeping up the trees and yews in my yard.
Tom was genuine joy to work with - and absolutely the right partner for me to transform my backyard into a perennial garden and oasis! Tom took a rocky, sloped and abandoned yard that we were convinced was a lost cause, and created a beautiful garden that is not only solved for the peculiarities of my shady yard, but is also a downright pleasure to sit in. Thanks to Tom and his team, I've spent more time in my yard in the last month than the entire previous year. I can't wait to watch the space grow and evolve for many years to come! Tom brings a remarkable blend of creativity and planfulness to deliver on a vision. His process is well outlined and it's great to know what to expect with every step along the way. I am usually someone who helicopters projects like this to be sure they are really executed in line with the vision we set out. Not so with Tom. I found that the revision steps he laid out worked so well for how I make decisions, that when it was time for plant installation, I fully trusted that everything would come together perfectly and was able to leave everything in Tom's magic hands. In short - I highly recommend Tom. I feel lucky to have found him in the first place, and to have had the chance to work with him. Am sure it won't be the last time!
Tom is one of the best contractors I've ever hired. Such a good decision to work with him. Garden is beautiful. Work process was smooth. Very understanding of the brief, smart, creative, and professional. Can't ask for much more.
