Hi, I’m Shawna, the heart behind Rooted Photography. I have over a decade of experience, specializing in storytelling wedding and elopement photography across the US! I traveled most of my 20s, where I have been able to meet other cultures and a wide variety of people. I personally am a Type B person with an introverted core. I do however 100% love meeting people and getting to know my clients' stories. I am naturally an observer, which allows me to really step into being a photographer. I am always on the lookout for those small moments: those hugs with your grandparents, the good (or bad) jokes among your bridal party, and the looks from your partner. I truly love seeing emotion and bringing it into the frame. In addition to weddings and elopements, I also offer engagement, portrait, boudoir, headshot, commercial, and nature photography. It was really an honor working Shawna. Shawna’s level of patience, professionalism, and personal skills are outstanding. She was not only punctual but well equipped and very passionate about her craft. Despite the 97 degree weather, Shawna was quick on her feet, gave great directions, was patient, and very professional. I can’t Thank you enough for such an amazing experience. Graduations can be chaotic and overwhelming but I had the best time. I really don’t see working with anyone else but Shawna in the future. 💯 recommend.
Shawna - there are no words to describe your work. I haven’t even seen my pictures yet, but when I met Shawna, it was like I knew her for years! She takes such delicate time to get to know you and your partner, what had you fall in love, special moments you want captured, and more. Not only does she use her digital camera, she does film too! And not only that, we have Polaroids we got to take home immediately. The combination of immediate gratification, surprise, and anticipation is a wonderful touch to her work. Not to mention, our photographer quit a week prior from the company we were using and Shawna made it happen in a week!!! I truly believe everything happens for a reason, because there wouldn’t have been a better match for us. ❤️

My wedding was July 20 so we haven’t seen the finished album but her promptness, desire to please us and capture special moments was unparalleled. We are an older couple and this was more of a family event than anything else, with grandchildren etc and she adapted to our requests and somewhat untraditional wedding. We’d hire her again in a second!

Shawna is amazing! We were married at the Columbia River gorge and were not sure about the best photo spots at the waterfall we chose. She was early and was able to find the best photo opportunities possible. I appreciated how easy she was to talk to and she was calm throughout our photo shoot and offered great ideas. Our elopement was a short ceremony with a 30 minute photo shoot and everything went so smoothly. We appreciate her commitment and I'm so grateful she was able to capture our special day!
