Arrived Without a Screwdriver, Declared My $1,000 Filter Dead, Then Walked Off The tech showed up to install my pool pump without a flathead screwdriver. Not a specialty tool—a basic screwdriver. When I checked on him, he admitted he’d made a “rookie mistake” and had to leave the job to go back to the store for supplies he should have had with him. He later came out and told me I was going to need to replace my $1,000 filter because he could not get a part unscrewed from it. I walked into my garage, grabbed a screwdriver, used a little leverage, and had the part completely off. No replacement needed. I told him I was losing confidence. He took it personally and walked away from the job. I hired someone to install a pool pump. I got an unprepared tech who couldn’t remove a basic part, incorrectly concluded that a $1,000 filter needed to be replaced, and left when that was pointed out. Find someone else.

I had an emergency where I had water running off my roof from my pool solar heater. Peyton immediately got somebody over to my house first thing in the morning, even though I wasn’t on his schedule so that we could get it shut off properly and get the pool equipment turned back on. I really appreciate that. He squeezed me in despite the fact that I was calling at the last minute on a Sunday night. They really made it go right to service me and get an emergency handled and I appreciated it plus they didn’t charge me very much to do it.
The Shredders team has been incredibly responsive and consistently clear in their communication. They offered several equipment options to replace my pool pump so I could stay within budget, and the new pump has been working perfectly.

The owner, Peyton, was very responsive when I contacted him regarding the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Black algae…debris everywhere. He set up a time schedule, listed the steps needed to resolve our issues and proceeded to take our pool from disaster to its current glorious presence. The included photos tells the full story.
