Listened to reviews and went with Smart Choice for my AC problem, which was a terrible decision. I’ve had great luck with Thumbtack and have always managed to find the type of non-hustling, quality help that I look for… not this time. I will say, the initial booking was flawless and professional; I believe I received a call within 10 min or less and was scheduled for the next morning. Technician showed up on time, but the praise ends there. He took a few short minutes and pulled out a couple meters to run through my equipment and suggest a full indoor/outdoor unit replacement and left me with a quote of [get this] $17,000! I ended up having to call my father-in-law down from Uvalde who’s run his own AC business for 31 years. Within 15 min of arriving, he pointed out the small issue (which should have been caught by the initial photos I sent over to the pro before booking), had my unit up and running and explained a few tips to prevent this from happening in the future. Along the way, he proved how the claims of my failing equipment were false and made me look silly for even entertaining this company. I never write reviews and I’m not angry; just want to save someone else the headache and express the fact that you should STAY AWAY from this company and choose someone else. Luckily, it’s not summer, so my downtime wasn’t unbearable. You may not have this luxury.
