they were correct about their diagnosis but when we tried to have work done we were ghosted and they did not communicate with us further.
Didn’t follow instructions on take out and leaving trash in area that’s unacceptable. More than that but this company get 2 1/2 stars hopefully they treat the next customer the same way they satisfy there pockets with the high rate and crappy attention to detail.
Improve? Well, to start, Healthy Homes USA should not be accepting work that they cannot complete to bring the effected part of the home back to it's original state. As one can see, the pictures below are from the restoration after the remediation of the water damage that was in our finished basement after a fluke humidifier leak from the furnace. Their former employee Dimitri accepted the job on Thumbtack and after we spoke on the phone after Thanksgiving 2025, he was here within the next 36 hours or so. Once he had made his quote of almost $3,000 dollars for everything (Check written 12/12/25), we decided to pay out-of-pocket instead of filing an insurance homeowners claim. After looking at where the water had went and what it entailed he began ripping up carpeting, removing baseboards, and cutting drywall out. The heater fans and drying went for about four days. After that time, he removed the fans and stated that he and the other "crew" would be returning to secure the carpeting, fix the drywall and return the baseboards. About mid-December when had stated he was finished, we went to look at the completed work. We were shocked to find it in such an unpresentable and unacceptable way. We stated this was not acceptable. He stated to me to give the silicone and glue and sorts about two weeks to dry and then for me just to sand it down and it would be fine (I did agree to sand and paint the drywall that was repaired). This is what I did. But after two weeks, i attempted to sand and touch up the paint but the patch work and baseboard alignment was too extensive for a medical professional such as myself to repair it properly. We were leaving for Europe over the New Year's Holiday for two weeks, so just as soon as we returned, I tried to call Dimitri. I left a voicemail and then followed up with text within 24 hours. I texted multiple times without response but could see the messages had been read. Finally almost a business week later he contacted me and stated that he was no longer with Healthy Homes USA and gave me a number to contact a John there and that inquire with him on what to do. To date, I have sent messages via the Healthy Homes website, Thumbtack email, and text messages to 847-XXX-3333 in which they keep asking me for details that I have clearly given them and also spoke to John just the one time I received his number from Dimitri. When I spoke to John, I explained how important this was as we will be selling our property and relocating this year. His first response was to ask me, "Why did you wait so long to contact us", and "I see nothing on the books with your address for that time period" (fortunately the check was made to Healthy Homes and not Dimitri personally). This was all around three Holidays plus our vacation abroad. We did contact everyone in an expeditious manner. I put them on notice at least a month ago with no resolution as they stated via text that they would sand the walls no problem and John stated in our one phone call to give him a bit and he would get back to me. Here we are. So, moving forward I would recommend that In our opinion, we would suggest that Thumbtack re-evaluate or remove this company for future referrals. I will now be sending this information to the BBB to await their response and then lastly, if this is matter is not rectified swiftly, we will file a small claims civil suit with the Cook County Court System. Worst experience I ever had dealing with any company, they give you a quote then try to re-quote you halfway through the project. Tried to extort extra money from me, and never finished the job that they were contracted to do. Then they talk to you on the phone and lie to your face, like everything is fine and they will take care of it. Only to make things worse and while never holding up their end. This company is run by a bunch of criminals with no morals. Best to stay away from them, unless you want to end up with a half ass job that never got completed. I can see why they are not BBB accredited.
