$65 Trip Fee Was Not Disclosed Upfront Very disappointed with the way the pricing was handled. We contacted this locksmith specifically to get the cost before authorizing the work and reached out multiple times. In the Thumbtack chat, we were told: 1 lock: $150 2 locks: $185 3 Locks: $220 We then clarified that there were 3 doors and asked for the cost, including what would happen if there was no key. We were told we were good to go for the scheduled appointment, but we were never told about a trip fee. Also, this is so unfair how they charge $150 for single lock rekeying without including the trip fee After the work was completed, we received an invoice with additional charges, including a $65 trip fee. When we questioned it, the locksmith reduced the trip fee from $65 to $45. That means the $65 charge was there in the first place but was never disclosed to us before the work was performed. The final invoice included: 3 regular locks rekeyed — $220 Keypad lock rekeyed — $85 Trip fee — $65, later reduced to $45 Total after adjustment — $350 The issue is not simply the price. The problem is the lack of upfront and transparent pricing. We specifically asked about the cost multiple times before agreeing to the service. Customers should know the complete price, including any trip/service fees, before the work is performed. We were also told that the trip fee was not disclosed upfront because showing it could make the price appear higher and potentially result in losing customers. That is not a reasonable way to handle pricing. If there is a mandatory $65 trip fee, it should be clearly disclosed before the customer agrees to the job. We would not recommend this company based on our experience. Clear, honest, upfront pricing should be standard business practice.

I received a quote from this company and provided pictures and a description of what I needed done. He was able to offer quick appointments, however the work was not done satisfactorily. One lock is hard to open and the other isn’t aligned with my door frame. Also, he changed the price after doing the work and became a little hostile while discussing the change in the price that was quoted. I now have to hire someone else to come back out to fix my locks.
Installing new doorknob and deadbolt and needed them rekeyed to match our others. No hurry but Swift Locksmith was close by and over in 15 minutes. For an additional fee, he installed both a lot faster than we would have. Responsive, efficient, fair price, pleasant to deal with.
