Excellent carpet quality, great value, responsive and was flexible to my last minute changes and requests. Installer did not clean up behind themselves.
The quality of work and timely communication was 5 star. What I would suggest to him would keep it more professional. Keep your personal and political opinions out of your job. Keep in mind that not everyone has your opinion. And some think your opinion is nuts. So even tho the job was done very nice and I have no complaints, I do believe you were less than professional. When you come to do your job just do your job, keep the talk to the job at hand and when you're done just leave.
I hired The Carpet Man to remove carpeting, seal the subfloor, and replace with new carpeting. I had discovered my cat was peeing on the floor, so it was necessary to remove the old carpet andseal the subfloor before putting new carpet in. I had been very clear with my concerns that the subfloor needed to be sealed properly so that the odor wouldnt come back. He assured me he knew what he was doing and that they would use kilz to seal the floor so that no smells would come through. I couldn't be more clear that the main goal of this project was to seal the subfloor. I was out of town while the work was being done so I requested they send pictures of every step so that I could make sure the project was done based on what was discussed. I return home after the work was done and the odor was still there. I asked for pictures and he sent a picture that shows the subfloor was not properly sealed based on what we discussed. in addition, there was orange glue all over the new carpet, the seams are very apparent, and the corners weren't done well. when I voiced my complaints on the subfloor not being sealed and me not getting what I discussed and paid for, he became very combative, petty, and unhelpful. a couple things I learned from this: this is not a pro. kilz (recommended by him) was not the proper product for this job and wouldn't have solved the issue even if painted properly. the application was also not done properly (clearly). it would've been cheaper and faster to paint on shellac than use this method. ultimately he didn't offer any fix, and he still stands by his work on this project. it was truly a huge mistake hiring this company and I hope this review helps others see the lack of skill and knowledge displayed
They did a great job on the initial install and came back the very next morning to fix a minor issue.
James was so great to work with. Very responsive, personable, and flexible. My carpet and vinyl look amazing! I can't believe it is the same house! Thank you!
The Carpet Man LLC responded quickly, provided helpful feedback about the project, and completed the repair quickly and efficiently. I would happily call them again for assistance.
Had James re stretch a carpet in a bedroom. He was curteous, professional and did a great job
James was very knowledeable and answered all of my questions. He was also very friendly and did a great job stretching my family room and hallway carpeting.
I was not satisfied. Carpet thresholds not installed no refund. Three appointments. No Show!!
James was flexible and easy to work with. Would highly recommend using him for all of your carpet needs
We had a great experience. We had 3 carpet areas stretched and carpet installed on stairs. Very reasonably priced, prompt and friendly. We would recommend and use again.
I had a good experience with Jimmie and team. My stairs look so much better with the carpet they installed, and the pricing was reasonable and transparent. I went to the showroom in West Bottoms to see the samples in person, which made it easier for me to pick a style. After I choose a style, I was on the schedule within the week. I'm happy with the stairs, and I would definitely recommend.
James did an amazing job for us! Was super responsive and really knocked out this patch job out of the park. I can’t even tell! Thank you, James!
As of 9/3/2024 NO RESOLUTION-SEE PHOTOS AND BEWARE BEFORE HIRING THIS PRO. I am extremely shocked and dissatisfied with the carpet installation on our stairs and landing. The installation was far from satisfactory due to the many issues I outlined below. These will need immediate attention. I did bring all of these to the attention of the installers today before they left our home After pointing out all of my concerns, Terry stated “Oh I didn’t see that”, he then threw in a few more staples and tried to pull some of the carpet further over the landing area where there is not enough to finish the cap, he was unable to do so as there was not enough to pull. At that point, I was told that there was nothing more they could do and that they were satisfied with their work. I heard him call you and I’m surprised you have not reached out before now. You told me when we met in person that this is a family business that you were born into. That said, I have confidence that you know quite well what a professional install looks like vs. a shoddy, unprofessional, pieced-together job. I would be shocked if you stated that this is what your company calls satisfactory work after seeing the photos I’m attaching for your review. Firstly, it is evident that your team did not bring sufficient carpet for the job. The first thing that Terry said upon arrival at our home and even before unloading the carpet into our garage. “We don’t have enough carpet for the job,” he said. And then “Apparently there was a misunderstanding between you and James about what was being carpeted”. I assured him we were quite clear on the areas to be carpeted even on my initial message to you on Thumbtack. You misunderstood my original message or may not have read it fully but I have been very clear throughout the process. We were also clear after the first order was placed for too little carpet because you hadn’t figured in the landing. You placed a new order for the correct amount of carpet and this is why the job was pushed from Monday to Friday.Terry said he’d make sure and “see what we can do with what I have”. From there, he measured the areas and began cutting and installing the carpet with help from Austin. I assumed that he had enough for the job or he wouldn’t have begun working. The incomplete installation, lack of material, frayed edges, and lack of padding, left many completely unstable areas. There are frayed, and “fluffed” areas of carpet to hide mistakes, many many bubbled areas, very noticeable gaps, non-stretched carpet, and nails or staples sticking out. There is a terribly noticeable seam up the stairs by the ballisters. I explained when you were here that we were in the process of replacing the ballisters and would it not be better if I left them off for the installers and then installed them after the job was completed to avoid this very issue. You stated that it would be better if we installed the new ballisters before they began the job. Your installers told me that they made the ugly cut because the ballisters were installed. The pieced-together areas really stand out, and we had a few knowledgeable people over this morning who had several comments on these. There are areas where there was too little carpet, where the staples weren’t even attached to anything, leaving the wrapped edge just hanging off of the stairs, this has resulted in an extremely unprofessional appearance. This is completely unacceptable. The poor workmanship, clear lack of knowledge, lack of experience, and lack of communication between you and your installers have left us deeply disappointed and have caused additional inconvenience in starting this process over. Given these many issues, we are requesting a full refund of our deposit. We will need to hire another company to rectify the problems and complete the installation. The carpet is obviously of no use to us in its condition and being too little material for the job and if you would like it back we can arrange for that. This situation has not only been frustrating but also incurs additional costs and time on our part. After sharing these many photos of the terrible workmanship, lack of material, etc. *Note- Carpet Man LLC (Mike) responded with the fact that he “took an educated guess” on how much carpet he needed for the job and if he needs to order some more to “fix a few stairs” then he would. This is obviously a much bigger issue that “fixing a few stairs”. The entire carpet roll that was put in has been cut to piece together on each area and trying to hide these with some extra carpet is not possible a possible solution. What a disappointment this has turned out to be.
amazing work!! Highly recommended. Courteous and Professional. Good product Carpet and pad… AND THEY REMOVED THE FURNITURE and put it back. I will be using them again. Hard to find Quality and Affordability!! The Carpet Man is that man! GOLD STARS!
