The Slatons is Andrew Slaton and wife, Ellen, a traveling destination-style and adventurous wedding photography duo. The Slatons love capturing the story of your love! Andrew earned his bachelor’s degree in photojournalism from the University of Texas at Austin and has been a professional photographer for over two decades. In that time, he has traveled the world for a variety of clients, capturing the essence of glacial peaks, grizzly bears and the significant first look between husband and wife. His wide range of expertise and experience is the foundation of The Slatons that turns a fleeting moment into a treasured, lifelong work of art. In the last 12 years, he has also been producing video content for a variety of clients. He is an FAA commercially licensed drone pilot as well. Andrew is fun and easy to work with, as well as punctual and professional. He delivers quality, quickly. On your day, think of Ellen as your behind the scenes, go-to-girl. As the organizer of the Slaton team, Ellen keeps track of the Bride’s (and Mother’s, Aunt’s and bestie’s…) “must have shots” and helps ensure the day runs smoothly without stress. Funny story... 10 years ago we were traveling so much for shoots that we decided to sell our home and most of our stuff and buy a truck and travel trailer and hit the road! We follow the work and base ourselves in Jackson Hole, WY, Chattanooga, TN, and then Naples, FL. So we live where you live! Sorta :) So if you see our location changing, don’t worry, that’s just Andrew planning work along our route. Another great thing about this lifestyle is that travel is usually not an extra cost for you!

The Slatons were AMAZING during our family/surprise engagement photos. We had all 5 of our boys and they were patient, very interactive and very informative when we had questions about the surrounding areas. The turn around time on getting our gallery back was very quick! All around 10/10 experience. We received a TON of photos back. We will be using them for our wedding photos 😊
The Slatons made our wedding day! They responded immediately. We were unsure of a location on the beach and they helped us pick the most amazing spot. They made the day very special for my husband and I by taking what felt as “natural” photos. We don’t like getting our photo taken and we actually had so much fun. They basically are the dream team. I do not even know where to begin! Andrew and Ellen are by far the best photographers I have ever had the pleasure of encountering! I’m not just saying that because they took my wedding photos. I am saying that because they are amazing people in general, and they know their craft very very well. They are so enjoyable, fun and kind to work with. They generally care about the people that they are photographing and working with. And their pictures are absolutely the best I have ever seen! Just to explain a little bit, I had no idea who I was going to get to take our wedding pictures. I was becoming anxious because everyone that I contacted either did not respond or was busy. My fiancé and I were traveling to Jackson hole and we wanted to have an outdoor wedding with the Tetons in the background. when I posted on Thumbtack, Andrew immediately responded and was very kind. He then offered to have a phone conversation with me about my wedding, and was very excited for us! As soon as I spoke with him, I was immediately put at ease. Andrew explained that he and his wife are a husband and wife team and he explained a little bit about how they do things and was very professional. I knew from the start that this was going to be a great experience with the both of them! We were able to text Andrew and Ellen wife back-and-forth with our plans and address of the wedding. He kept in close contact with us the whole time. As soon as they arrived at our wedding location, he and Ellen made our wedding experience 10 times better! I felt like we already were close friends and it was a joy to have them as a part of our wedding! They are a wonderful team! They both had amazing ideas for the photos, and they already had a plan together. All my fiancé and I had to do was follow their directions. They took him to a They took into account what we were wanting and asked us questions along the way. Everything was perfect! I will be forever thankful that I contacted Andrew and Ellen on Thumbtack and I will be forever thankful that we were able to have them as our wedding photographers. They will always be a part of our special day, and I will never forget the joy, they added to it! I would be remiss if I did not say that their prices are very affordable and competitive. Andrew immediately got some samples of the photos for us so that we could share with friends and family! He sent them to our phones and we were overjoyed! In just a few days we received all of our edited proofs, and Andrew explained in detail, how easy it would be for us to get prints if we would like. I can't say enough about Andrew and Ellen! They were definitely the best photographers I've worked with in a long time. As a wedding planner, I'm often asked by my clients to search out vendors for them. We'll let's just say that I hit the lottery when I found these two!! Not only were they punctual, but they showed up earlier than expected to catch the bridal party in action. Both Andrew and Ellen were professional, kind, funny, and just so easy to work with. I know that my clients, the bride and the groom, will love the end results that this amazing photography couple will create from the thousands of photos taken on their special night!!! To try and describe with words how INCREDIBLE Andrew and Ellen made our wedding weekend would be impossible to do, words can not do them justice. Not only are they outstanding photographers, they are truly wonderful people! From the moment we first spoke on the phone with them we felt like close friends, so much so that when we finally met we embraced like old friends! My fiancé and I had never done any type of professional photo shoot and we are so thankful we had Andrew and Ellen to coach us through it. They hyped us up, gave us such creative and directive cueing, tried so many types of shots, it felt so easy and fun and natural to be shooting photos with them. We literally had people gathering around watching them work with us because how they set the tone for our shoots. They were also willing to drive anywhere and do anything that we wanted! We did a golden hour shoot on a Wednesday evening, they came to our welcome party out in the wilderness on a Friday, back for our rehearsal dinner Friday evening, and spent all day with us Saturday for our wedding ceremony and reception. They were troopers! All of our guests loved working and spending time with them too. There is pretty much nothing these two wouldn’t do for their clients. We went over on time on every single photo shoot we had and not once did they rush us to finish, they made sure to get every perfect picture possible before aging. From the small preview we got just looking at some on our photos on their camera (without any editing or anything yet!) we can not wait to get all of our photos back! Their pricing is beyond reasonable for the value of their work and as a plus you will end up with two new friends after your time with them. What more could you want? I could not have dreamed of working with better wedding photographers, I promise you there is no one else you will want to work with!
Andrew and Ellen were amazing to work with! We had pictures taken of our group of 9 while at Grand Teton National Park and they made the entire thing so fun and enjoyable. They had great suggestions for grouping and poses for the pictures. Their personalities were awesome. They made us laugh the whole time and got my 6 month old son and 4 year old niece to smile and have fun during the pictures which can be tricky. Overall we highly recommend them!
Andrew is OUTSTANDING! My family was in Naples and we wanted a beach photo shoot. One challenge though: 3 year old twin boys! Andrew was patient, kind, and able to get the best out of the twins and the rest of us. Andrew is punctual...he was waiting for us to arrive at the beach location. His value is amazing...Andrew sent over 200 images with each one better than the next. Andrew is a professional photographer with high quality equipment and lighting...you can tell his level of expertise in every photo. His work quality is impeccable...Andrew delivers more than promised sooner than expected.
We hired Andrew and Ellie Slaton to photograph our elopement at the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado, they were seriously our dream team, they’re some of the kindest most positive people we’ve ever met, they have so much passion in what they do, they saw our vision and went for it 1000%. When the weather tried its hardest to work against us Andrew & Ellie never lost their spirits and helped us to create the most beautiful & magical memories none the less. They seriously went above and beyond to help us capture our day, we cannot thank them enough for everything they did for us!!
