Avoid Thomas Edison Electric for EV charger installations. I called them out for an estimate, and they insisted on a $99 "load calculation" as the first step. The document they gave me contains a blatant violation of NEC 120.82(C) (historically NEC 220.82(C)). Under the National Electrical Code, you are explicitly required to use only the larger of the heating or cooling loads because they do not run at the same time. Instead, their calculation added my 4,800 VA cooling load and 4,602 VA heating load together into a 9,402 VA total. This amateur math artificially inflated my household demand by 4,602 VA, leading them to incorrectly claim my system was already maxed out. Because their math was wrong, their solution was to suggest I permanently remove my oven and electric dryer, telling me to air-dry my clothes or use a countertop alternative. When I consulted four other electrical contractors, every single one of them immediately proposed installing a load management device, which safely manages the power draw without needing to tear out major household appliances. Despite claiming to do EV installations frequently, Thomas Edison Electric seemed completely ignorant of this common technology. To make matters worse, during their "safety inspection," the technician turned off my water heater and forgot to turn it back on, leaving me with a freezing cold shower the next morning. I have reached out to the company twice to give them a chance to correct their mistakes before writing this review and address the useless $99 calculation, but they have completely ignored my messages. If they would like to address their mistake and refund my $99, I will remove this review, but until that happens, I will keep this review up. Update - 9/13/26 - The company contacted me to send me a refund for the $99

Stop canceling at the 11th hour. I had scheduled two appointments with them and each time they cancelled saying that the tech was not going to make the appointment before mine because he was tied up on a previous job before me. I would recommend better time management and would not use them or recommend them in the future.

Needed my 2 outdoor receptacles fixed. Thomas Edison electric responded same day and fixed both the electrician also discovered that my A/C shut off had basically rotted out and replaced it. He worked very quickly and had all the parts on his truck. I was very pleased with the results.
The technician was professional, however it seemed like he was in a rush and did not send me the receipt. He was thorough by taking pictures of electrical connections and providing an assessment of wiring conditions. The downside is that the charges were overpriced for the job that was done. After performing the assessment, the only job was to change the shorted outlet. I am grateful for the outlet repair and replacement, I just believe $399 is way too much. Will not hire again.

What started well turned into a lackluster experience! Nothing bad happened, but he definitely wasn't the right fit for our home! First, we scheduled for 12-2PM, but he showed up 7 hours later. Second, he quoted us $2500 to install 2 pendant lights over our kitchen counter, while 3 other electricians quoted $600. Disappointed!
