We hired Unique Flooring through Thumbtack to perform pool-floor and entrance-floor work. We have paid $12,350 in total, including $6,350 on June 17, 2026, and $6,000 on August 20, 2026. The checks were requested to be made payable to Turoc Concrete and Designs LLC, which Ryan represented as the umbrella company for Unique Flooring. We were promised on June 17th that work will be done within 1-2 wks and they would work on weekends if necessary. The work was delayed well beyond the promised one-to-two-week completion period despite multiple reminders. It was eventually performed on August 20 while rain was forecast, and Ryan instructed the crew to continue after it began drizzling. We were asked to pay another $6000 that day with the promise that any issues would be corrected and a warranty certificate would be sent to us, but the work remains unsatisfactory and the warranty certificate has never been provided. The pool-floor borders are irregular, uneven, and poorly defined. The surface contains depressions and uneven areas, with sections that resemble sheets of ice rather than a smooth, level finish. The entrance floor is sticky. These conditions affect the appearance and usability of the areas and has created slipping, tripping, and water-collection concerns. The contract included $1,700 for removing the plastic partitions and leaving the floor smooth and level, but that work was not properly completed. Removal of partitions was suggested by Ryan and we were promised smooth level finish. Depressions remain where water may collect, and additional coating used to fill some areas created an irregular finish instead of a smooth surface. We have requested company's registration/licensing information and full name of responsible person multiple times. This information has not been provided yet. We repeatedly requested corrective work during suitable dry weather. Unique Flooring either failed to schedule appointments or scheduled them and failed to send the crew, often without advance notice, explanation, or rescheduling information. On some occasions, workers arrived after rain, found the surface wet, and left with promises to return, but those visits did not occur. We repeatedly lost suitable dry days because of these scheduling failures. Ultimately We gave the company an October 19 deadline to complete the corrections, after allowing substantially more time than originally promised. We also postponed closing the pool several times in reliance on Ryan’s assurances. Most recently, the crew was expected to return after four days without rain, and we sent Ryan a reminder the day before. Once again, nobody showed up, and we received no advance notice. When we contacted Ryan, he said he was at the hospital because his aunt was there. We understand that family emergencies can occur, and Ryan was not expected to attend personally anyhow. The appointment was for Unique Flooring’s crew to perform the work. His absence did not explain why the crew failed to attend, why we received no notice, or why no alternative arrangements were made. Similar no-shows had happened multiple times before as well. We contacted Unique flooring to ask about how Ryan's absence affected crew attendance but didn't receive any response. Today after waiting four months and giving Unique Flooring multiple opportunities for corrective action, we filed a complaint with Thumbtack. I would not recommend this company to other customers. Based on our experience and how the company has responded to complaints from other customers on Thumbtack review page, I would advise potential customers to thoroughly research the company's credentials before making any payments. We have attached photos as supporting evidence and are willing to provide emails, text messages, proof of payments and a copy of contract to help you make an informed decision. We will provide updates on any corrective action taken by Thumbtack or Unique flooring moving forward

★ 1-Star Review — Unique Floors / Ryan Rock I strongly recommend that Thumbtack seriously vet this contractor before continuing to refer them to homeowners. I hired Ryan Rock/Unique Floors for a $9,500 pool-deck resurfacing project. The project dragged on for nearly four months and, despite being paid in full, the work has still not been properly completed. One of my biggest concerns was the lack of professional surface preparation. In my experience, they did not arrive properly equipped for a job of this size. They showed up with what appeared to me to be a small, inadequate concrete sander rather than the professional equipment I expected for properly preparing and grinding a large pool deck. I even had to supply them with an extension cord. For a contractor charging $9,500, I found the lack of proper equipment extremely unprofessional. There were repeated delays, missed commitments and promises to return and correct problems that were never fulfilled. The finished surface has uneven and dipped areas, defects in the coating/finish and bubbles that they specifically told me they would repair but never did. Another serious problem involves the brass fittings/anchors for my Loop-Loc pool safety cover. These fittings need to move up and down so they can sit flush when not in use. During the epoxy work, the fittings became bonded or glued in place by the coating and can no longer be properly lowered. I repeatedly brought this to their attention, but it was never properly corrected. Apart from the workmanship issue, protruding pool-deck hardware is a safety concern. I paid the entire $9,500 and have spent months trying to get the work properly completed. I also urge prospective customers to carefully verify exactly who they are hiring. In researching Ryan Rock and this business after these problems arose, I found the business associated with different names/business identities and addresses. I searched the available licensing information and was unable to verify a current Suffolk County or Nassau County home-improvement contractor license for Ryan Rock/Unique Floors. Anyone considering hiring them should independently verify their current licensing and the exact legal entity they are contracting with before paying any money. In my experience, Ryan Rock/Unique Floors substantially overpromised and underdelivered. Their preparation, equipment, workmanship, communication and follow-through fell far below what I expected from a contractor receiving $9,500. I would not recommend this contractor. I believe Thumbtack should seriously review and vet this company and its credentials before referring additional homeowners to them. Everything stated here is based on my personal experience and subsequent research. I have the invoice, proof of payment, photographs, text communications and a detailed timeline documenting the work and the problems described above.
All the workers, foreman, owner are respectable and respectful people. They all know what is their role and perform it like professionals.
Horrible experience with Unique Floors. We hired them to epoxy our garage floor based on their price and warranty. After one year, the garage entrance began peeling. They blamed our concrete and passed responsibility onto us. Notably, a second company said epoxy shouldn't even be placed outside the garage, despite Unique Floors claiming they do it all the time. They eventually agreed to a repair, but have given us the runaround for 5 months with non-stop excuses (bad weather, broken trucks/equipment). Avoid this company at all costs.
Professionalism, responsibility and honesty.. unique floors has shown none of those qualities that makes a business successful.. very poor management and take no responsibility for their actions!! I’m really sorry I started this project with them… never again!!

Went $400 over the initial quoted price. Which of course I wasn’t happy with, but I wanted to get a very nice finish result so I agree and paid it. Then when the job was complete, and I didn’t even have time to go see it in person only sent me pictures and blew me up for the rest of the payment. I of course, went and paid. After seeing in person, there were many flaws in his team left the place a mess. Told me that they would go clean up the next day and they still haven’t showed up.
I would rate my overall experience with UniqueFloors as excellent. The work was outstanding from start to finish. The epoxy floors came out absolutely perfect — the best I’ve ever seen — and the wood floors were picture-perfect. The craftsmanship, attention to detail, and professionalism truly stood out. Very honest, reliable, and easy to work with. I highly recommend Unique-Floors to anyone looking for high-quality flooring work.
Ryan got back to me right away and was very accommodating setting up an appointment for an estimate. He arrived on time, was very knowledgeable and professional and answered all of my questions explaining the cement resurfacing process. He gave me an estimate and his availability. I was ready to hire him but the original contractor that installed the driveway and sidewalk called to say he would do the job when I needed it done so I felt a loyalty to him. If anything falls through I’ll call Ryan.
We had a great experience working with Ryan and Unique flooring. Communication was easy and the timeframe in which we first made contact and the work being done was perfection. The epoxy flooring is a great addition to our home.
Update on 12/30/2024: They ended up refunding the deposit after I posted this. I had an appalling experience with Unique Floors. I initially paid a $1,000 deposit for them to repair a portion of my garage and reapply epoxy. Before they started, I specifically showed them that the floor was cratered and uneven and asked if they could properly prepare it to ensure it would be level with the rest of the surface. They assured me it wouldn’t be an issue. The result was an absolute disaster: the surface ended up worse than before—uneven, cratered, pooling water everywhere, and with flakes scattered all over. After seeing the mess, I requested a refund. While the owner agreed to refund $500, I never received it despite multiple follow-ups over several months. He initially promised to mail a check, then claimed he’d send the money electronically, but neither happened. They did offer to redo the job, but to be honest, the quality of work was so poor, and the communication was such a nightmare, that I couldn’t bring myself to trust them again or have them revisit my home. Now, I’m left with the burden of hiring someone else to completely redo the job. This company is unprofessional, unreliable, and incapable of delivering on their promises. Avoid Unique Floors at all costs if you value your time, money, and peace of mind.
Extremely disappointed. Terrible communication throughout the process. Took full payment and left me hanging for two months. Did a horrible job and then left me hanging again waiting to fix it. Once they finished the job a second time I didn’t get a phone call asking about quality. They left a mess on my brand new walls and in my driveway. Second job was better but still not worth the money I spent. The owner did not even come to check the job. Not the first time or the second time. Do not use this company.
