Warning to future customers: Juan, the electrician contacted me and I asked him for his EC# and proof of insurance. He sent me copies of “his” FL Electrical Contractor license and certificate of liability insurance. Upon examination, both documents were licensed to a Yasser B. Martinez, not Juan. I verified the licensing information independently through the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). I explained to him that he must provide the legal documents issued under his name, not anyone else. He explained to me that it was his boss's documentation. I texted him the HOA contact information and to let me know when he would come in. That was three days ago. Although the license is real, but I believe that he may have obtained it to show he is licensed by using someone else’s FL license, which states on it” It is unlawful for anyone other than the licensee to use this document”. So, he committed an unlawful act by sending me someone else's documentation. He never contacted the HOA because he knew that he didn’t have the required documentation. Since Juan didn’t provide the requested information, I could not independently verify his credentials. My recommendation to other homeowners is simple: before authorizing electrical work, obtain the contractor's full name, company name, and Florida license number, then verify it yourself through the Florida DBPR license lookup. If a contractor declines to provide their personal information needed to verify their credentials, consider that before hiring them. This one committed an unlawful act.

They were very reasonably priced, professional, flexible, quick and courteous. We were working with a relatively small time window and they asked if I had a stepladder to save time and avoid going downstairs to their van to get one. I pulled one out of my utility closet. When he was done, he quietly folded it back up, put it back where it was and closed the closet door. That's a first! And yes, they fixed the problem with the electric. Good guys.

The tech called earlier in the day to see if he could come early, but I was not available. At our scheduled appointment at 4:30, he did not show up. I waited 15 minutes and called him and he advised he was 30 minutes away. Since he did not call to inform me that he was running late, I canceled the appointment altogether.
