Leading up to the move we had a good experience. The day of the move was rough. Booking with this company leaves you at the mercy of the team assigned to your job. - Alanna (relocation specialist) was very professional, kind, responsive, and clear. The initial quote: estimated time of 4 hs based on the size of our house and large items (beds, dressers, shelves, treadmill, etc). Great! I made a deposit and continued to update the inventory. - With updates to inventory, and the addition of a second drop off (2 blocks away), the estimated time went up to 5-6 hrs. This also included the disassembly + reassembly of multiple pieces of furniture, so we accepted that. - 1 week prior to the move, we received a confirmation text, but the inventory was completely wrong. We called to correct it, and were told there was a glitch in their system that reset our inventory for some reason. After the corrections, the estimate was 7 hrs. Why the jump? No idea, but we were days away from the move and amidst the packing chaos, so we accepted it and moved forward. DAY OF THE MOVE: - arrival window was 8-10AM. At 930 AM we got a call from a mover saying they would be there at 10:30 "due to traffic". They arrived at 11:15 with zero explanation or apologies. - Then came the real start of the issues: The lead mover, Antony, walked through the house with us and confirmed inventory, then for the next half hour (keep in mind Zip to Zip charges hourly) he went over the pricing of their packing materials. I tried to move things along and told him we were all packed up and didn't need the materials. He insisted on going through each line item including the cost and size of each box and then we walked through the house again while we tried to emphasize that only select pieces of furniture needed wrapping. - Meanwhile, the other two movers moved ONE BOX at a time. They never used box or appliance dollies, a hand-off system or any other technique we have seen movers use in the past. Very Inefficient. - For the next several hrs they continued this, while Antony wrapped all furniture (including things we got for free at a yard sale) in excessive amounts of shrink wrap, furniture pads, and packing tape, all of which we were charged for, despite me being clear that we were not interested in these materials. We understand that they wanted to "protect the furniture" so they aren’t liable for damage but it was a total waste, excessive and again extremely inefficient. - For time sake, I personally disassembled the furniture items they were supposed to disassemble and we ended up skipping the reassembly all together since the job took so long. - Antony estimated said they’d be at our house for about 3-4 hours then go unload at the storage unit. It took 5.5 hrs. - At our direct access, level storage unit, they unloaded ONE BOX AT A TIME. With no dollies. - One of the other biggest red flags was they insisted on having us pay before they even finished, by estimating how much longer they would take. (?!) - When Antony asked how much tip we wanted to give, he then balked at our answer and he said “just so you know people usually give us 15-20%” which was unprofessional, and absurd. We gave them snacks, Gatorade, water, pizza, and they took way longer than expected despite us working alongside then and disassembling things for them. We ended up being charged nearly 3 times our original quote, including $780 of materials we were forced into the day of the move when they showed up LATE. The job was not done until 7PM which was quite an issue since we had to scramble get childcare for our kids while we helped them. TLDR: we were charged drastically more than the estimate, including a ton of unnecessary packing materials we tried to decline. They took advantage of the last minute pressure and stress, and power dynamic- knowing we had to use them to get out of our house that day. We had to pay before completing the job= another sketchy power play. IF YOU BOOK WITH ZIP TO ZIP: make sure you are extremely clear about which materials you will pay for, and have a blunt conversation about what to do if the specific moving team tries to pressure you into additional materials. Be clear the level of efficiency that is expected (i.e. will dollies be used???), when payment is expected (i.e. after the job is complete), and tip expectations.

Zurab and his crew arrived on time and called me an hour prior to notify me they were near. Zurab was professional and went over the paperwork straight away followed by a walkthrough of our house with his crew. They got straight to work and that made the bill less than estimated in the end. They verified everything was good prior to going to our new home and they were just as fast to resemble everything in our desired location at the new house. I highly recommend them to anyone and will be recommending them to family!

What a great group of guys who showed up to help me today!! Professional and punctual and very cautious. They were on time and worked very hard! I used zip to zip for moving from Manhattan to Basking Ridge. I booked the full service move where they pack everything and move. Pros: 1. arrived on time. 2. Cleaned the apt for their packing material. 3. Were clean and careful regarding handling my stuff. No broken item that I know of. Cons: 1. Forgot a whole large box in the apartment (picture below) in spite of telling multiple times that everything in the apt needs to go. Also had to remind many times to pack stuff from the bathroom. That too they left many things unpacked. Same about things under the kitchen sync. Had to go back to manhattan to pack those things again. 2. Was surprised to know a rule they have: they don’t pack anything which is liquid even if sealed bottles.
