1. Private chef Gabriele Rotunno

Top ProExceptional 5.0(8)
In high demand
  • 10 hires
  • Serves New York
  • Responds in about 10 minutes
  • Background checked

Alberto C. says, “Gabriele went above and beyond — not only averting a potential disaster but also turning what could have been a catastrophe into an unforgettable evening. For my anniversary, I surprised my partner by hiring a professional chef to prepare a 4-course dinner at home. Being Italian, I'm particular about my dining preferences, especially for such a special occasion. Before the event, Gabriele was exceptionally proactive, offering several menu options for the four courses, each centered around a fall theme with fish as the primary protein. He crafted multiple menu iterations, each unique, combining flavors like fruit emulsions, spice essences, and freshly prepared culinary elements that highlighted the quality of the raw ingredients. But then, a true test of resilience arose. Just hours before his expected arrival, I was notified of a sudden gas outage in our NYC building. Amid the stress of this last-minute setback on my anniversary, I worried how Gabriele would manage to cook his carefully curated meal, with no kitchen stoves! Yet, Gabriele remained calm and composed, assuring me that he had everything under control. He brought his own electric-powered cooking station and seamlessly executed the entire dinner, saving our evening. He not only dissipated any lingering and overwhelming stress I had attempting to rectify this situation, but also created an unforgettable experience. The experience was more than just a solution; it was a revelation. Gabriele's cooking left us in awe, transforming our favorite dishes— like a simple "Spaghetto al Gambero Rosso"— into creations that transported my partner and I back to Italy. Grazie, grazie infinite once again. A.”

3. Chef John

Exceptional 5.0(10)
In high demand
  • 22 hires
  • Serves New York
  • Background checked

Carol W. says, “For my 75th birthday on Valentine’s Day I wanted something special, something memorable and above all, something delicious. I hired John and got all three, and then some. This was the first time I had used a private chef, and he was cooking for just three people—myself and two girlfriends—so it was uncharted waters for all. But we could not have been in better hands. He was responsive, accommodating (he created the menu with my friends because I wanted to be surprised), unflappable, unpretentious and a joy to work with. I told him upfront that I don’t cook and probably didn’t own many chef-worthy cooking supplies and utensils. “I have a whisk,” I confessed. I needn’t have fretted; he cheerfully said he would bring his own supplies. The dinner itself was a masterpiece from the crudités and whipped carrot soup to the Wagyu beef strip loin and chocolatey desserts. (He is not a pastry chef so he outsourced our sumptuous sweets to a French-style bakery he often works with.) If you open the dictionary and look up the word excellence, I’m sure John’s face will be there. I am in search of excuses to hire him again and would not hesitate to recommend him for any occasion.”

Lais S. says, “Wow, what an incredible catering experience we had with Chef Lucas Catering! From the moment we started planning with Chef Lucas, I knew we were in good hands. They were able to accommodate all of our dietary restrictions and preferences, and the end result was a truly personalized and delicious meal. The appetizers were a hit with our guests, and the butternut and apple soup was the perfect start to the meal. The filet of beef with ginger coconut lemon grass sauce was cooked to perfection and the broccolini and potato and celery root gratin were the perfect accompaniments. But the real showstopper was the mixed berries with zabaglione for dessert! It was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. I can't recommend Chef Lucas Catering enough and can't wait to have them cater my next event. Five stars all around! I am looking forward to working with Chef Lucas Catering for my upcoming birthday celebration!”
