However, $350 was over $100 higher than the second-highest quote I received. The explanation I was given was that the additional amount was the service call fee. In my experience, a service charge is typically for diagnosing the problem, and if you move forward with the repair, that fee is either waived or applied toward the final bill. Either way, when I ask for the price of a repair, I expect the total out-the-door cost, not a quote that excludes additional charges. If I had only brought the $225 I was quoted, there would have been an issue. The quality of the work and the response time were excellent. I would simply recommend being more transparent about the total cost upfront so customers know exactly what to expect.”
