“After quitting piano in 8th grade, detours into playing bass in bands and helping my kids with their music lessons, I finally started playing piano again. It was fun, but I quickly hit a dead end — I didn’t have the tools to get where I wanted to go harmonically. I wanted to understand music better and to feel more comfortable and creative on the keyboard. Harrison’s approach is giving me a way to understand music theory and apply it on the keyboard without requiring a strong jazz focus. Already I feel it is really working for me. I’m hearing harmony a little better, feeling more comfortable on the piano and am motivated for the challenges ahead. Harrison’s method feels less like learning individual songs and more like learning to understand music itself.”

“Maya is a great, proactive piano teacher. She creates a lesson plan that follows any style and level. The lessons she has online are extremely helpful and she gives you the space and curriculum to achieve your goals. Her plan is set up for a weekly meet and additionally allows for extra meetings if you so desire.”

“I'm so grateful to have found Simon for our kids' piano lessons! He is an exceptional teacher who has accelerated their progress at an incredible rate. From the very first lesson, we were impressed by Simon's professionalism, patience, and ability to connect with children. His talent for working with kids is evident in every interaction - he makes learning piano a joyful and engaging experience. Under his guidance, our son and daughter started to play more complex songs that truly challenge them. Hearing my son playing Tchaikovsky was truly special. I highly recommend Simon to any parent looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable piano teacher for their child.”

“I have been his music fan over 10 years. You will be definitely amazed by his wonderful performance.”

“EXCELLENT! I am truly Greatful for my child to be under the instruction of Mr. Derrickson. My 10 year old daughter has studied piano under Mr. John Derrickson at Miami Valley Music Instruction for over three years, and the growth has been remarkable. She was completely new in learning this instrument. Under his guidance, she is learning to become fluent in reading music, can sing while playing, and receives valuable lessons on the history and origins of the music she performs. Mr. Derrickson is more than an instructor he is a gifted educator who creates meaningful challenges, motivates his students to give their best, and truly aims for their success. Because of his guidance, my daughter has performed at schools, churches, and community events receiving standing ovations, repeated invitations, and even monetary gifts from appreciative audiences. Adding voice lessons this past year has expanded her knowledge and given her even greater confidence in performing before large crowds. I am truly grateful for this phenomenal teacher who is patient and continues to guide and inspire my daughter, not only in the art of music but also in developing self-confidence and professionalism. I highly recommend Mr. Derrickson for anyone seeking exceptional, inspiring music instruction. Thank you!!”
